There are so many *almost* TWSS statements here it's killing me

I don't know if that's just a statement of opinion or if it's an attempt to take a shot - regardless, it was over a billion for three years (1.2) until the financial collapse. Your endowment suffered and you're now under a bil too (according to Forbes it's barely ahead of TCU's but according to SMU IR it's lower than TCU's...interesting).

Kudos to TCU - setting themselves up for a jump to BCS conf. with this stadium. Would hope to see SMU start looking to fill up the stadium and expand Ford to 45k.

I am curious though.. TCU sell-outs still aren't where they should be. In the immediate future, are they making things tougher for themselves financially? If they do make a jump - the stadium should see more crowds for sure.. but are we really that close?
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

WorldStang - yes, we are that close to conference realignment. No, TCU won't make a jump in this round. Their location hurts them. There are better, more regional choices for the Pac-10, Big East, and Big 11, and the Big 12 won't take TCU unless it's completely obliterated. TCU's best chance for BCS inclusion is if the MWC gets picked up as a BCS conference, something that the BCS conferences won't allow (that's why they are talking about expansion).

SMU's in a worse situation than TCU. SMU's best hope for the future is to align ourselves with TCU & Houston in a conference that might look something like this:

TCU
SMU
Houston
Colorado State
New Mexico
UTEP
Tulsa
Memphis
Southern Mississippi

Actually Mr toad fever we are still above a billion as of end of year 2009 - 1.035 billion to be exact. TCU was a few spots lower - 974 million. (source - NACUBO most recent report)

Not that you would want to get into endowment comparisons. You can draw your own conclusions as to the relative comparison between a Mustang and a frog.

plus SMU is a much younger institution than TCU.

Nice, yes. "Taj Mahal..." no way. You haven't been to too many other college football stadiums, have you?

Let's go ahead and call it the "Taj Mahal of College Football Stadiums;" perhaps it will become a mausoleum for TCU football success.

The only time Amon G. Carter is used as a mausoleum is

during the Frogs' annual gelding and burial of the ponies.
