Stadium upgrade?

I drove by Ford earlier today and saw a crew working on the video board. The old board has been completely removed so there is a big hole where it used to be. Not sure what brand the new one will be, but if it isn't HD, they are pretty much wasting their money. Go ahead and invest in the current technology...unlike the one in Moody when it was installed. They still need to find someone who can run the thing properly. That will make the biggest difference.

It's supposed to be a HD video board, and a new sound system.

Its not the costs, its the wear and tear week in and week out and the ability to add additional events at SMU. The HS playoffs and doubleheaders at Ford Stadium etc give SMU additional revenue and exposure is much, much more important. Not even a consideration on this.

At SMU, the cost makes an impact on everything. Corners are cut everywhere: facilities that have yet to be upgraded, support staff losing personnel, the absence of any visible marketing around town, etc.

$2 million for the video board (HD) plus a new "video room" in the press box. Ad signs will be gone from the sides, so the actual image on the board will be much bigger. Ads will be included on the screen itself.

The old board was Mitsubishi Diamondvision. The 10-year contract SMU had with Mitsubishi ended after this past season so it makes sense to get a new one.

Has there ever been any talk of adding a second scoreboard in the other endzone? Seems like it will be inevitable if we complete the horseshoe and go to 40,000+. Could that side of Ford support a second video board?
