BYU to Stay, UH to MWC?

There is no doubt that losing Houston hurts CUSA and therefore us. I think the MWC is weak, but the perception will maintain that CUSA is weaker.

Trading La Tech for Houston, or SMU for that matter, would be no small blow to CUSA West. Whether you think UH would be gaining anything by doing it is irrelevant, as many have said, the mere perception of it would be a huge negative at this point. Hope it doesnt happen but the next move by the MWC is anybodys guess right now. I do think BYU will end up staying, its what happens next that is completely up for grabs to me. The Utah State dynamic is a real wildcard given they got hosed in last weeks maneuvering and share a state legislature with byu.

2. BYU stays up in the MWC; Utah State gets an invite and the MWC is done w/ expansion..for now

yep, which is why i would suggest we even have to try to buy our way into MWC (and nudge houston out) regardless of how much of an upgrade it really is. The program has to start being seen as desirable and we cant just be content to sit around and wait for the big boys to make another move. Orsini comments about the big boys worry me. We can always move again later, but gotta upgrade every chance because you really dont know when and if the next one is coming.

I don't see any way we can "buy" our way ahead of Houston into the MWC. There are still so many variables to play out before we know what goes down. Everything hinges on BYU right now. Until September 1st there are going to be a lot of programs holding their collective breath.

maybe not, but with a league short on tv revenue (and having to give up some of the already small pie to keep BYU), i'd sure try. this is an instance where the June Jones factor and what he did at Hawaii might get our foot in the door and allow us to buy our way in for more $ than Houston can come up with. My point is i hope our admin has not accepted the common knowledge that Houston is next in line.

The COC came through huge with JJ, and they could easily put some pressure on decision makers...I hope they are trying...

What kind of money are we talking about here? I'd have to think Houston will do whatever they have to to stay above us in the pecking order. Is it worth 20M to join the MWC with no gaurantee of BCS inclusion?

There is no chance in hell the frogs are going to go back to the WAC...with Utah gone and BYU on the cusp...TCU has all the power right now in MWC...

If they agree to USU, they are doing it b/c they know they are out of there soon or they are very dumb...

They won't have a say in the matter. They'll allow Utah State and like it. BYU is running that show. Not TCU.
