First off June Jones needs to retire June Jones has two weeks to have J.J. McDermot ready to lead the team start to finish... book it.. "Kyle can make all the throws but it takes him six seconds at least and he telegraphs where it is going on the snap".. So if a second rate defensive back or two can't close on that, then its up to Kyle to attempt to throw a catchable pass... The only success Kyle had early in the season was the long bomb and the only reason that worked is Robison is fast enough to create space and chase down the ball. The last few games our opponents have wised up and play deep enough to stay in front of Robison and stop Kyle's only weapon. Kyle should take up baseball, he is not going to ever be any better than he has become with excellent coaching.

I said something similar in another thread, thing is do we have a better QB on the roster or coming in next season? Kyle will probably be the guy the next 2 seasons by default, hopefully June realizes Kyle doesn't have to tools to run the full R&S consistently and modifies the offense accordingly.

actually almost the entire team was recruited by Jones-we have few Seniors or redshirted Juniors

Come on - - - Hard to call that first class a Jones class - how many days did he have to pull in that class between signing a contract and signing day?

Kyle released the ball faster than he has all season , consistently the entire game. One time I counted past 4 seconds, two bad throws. No boys this was not the Kyle factor tonight. This once again was a Team talent issue most noteably a lack of defense...

first quarter and a half was a clinic by UTEP on how to beat a great QB...keep him off the field.

He was hired on the 7th of Jan and signing day was on the 6th of Feb, so basically a month.

'Officially' hired on January 7th, but it was known long before that by JJ and his staff to be....they were doing research and planning on potential recruits long before that BTW, unofficially.

Hey all that is true I'm just pointing out that the statement made that "over half this team is still not recruits of the current regime" is false.

can we all agree that "if" the current commitments stick, this class will be the best yet for this staff and that recruiting has improved slightly year over year? Isn't that what it is all about? Now...let's just find a way to sneak into a bowl game...any bowl game, and extend the season.

We could really use the month of extra practices.

Ok, I was off base with the "over half" comment. However, I'm going to stick to my larger point. Even with June the first year, no legitimate D1 recruits considered SMU an option. That does not change overnight, although we are beginning to see it change.
Just as coaches cannot install their "system" overnight, they cannot upgrade talent overnight. A little winning gets the attention of better recruits, which leads to more winning, and so on. Three years is not enough time to build a consistent 8-9game winner out of the disaster we had when he got here.
Is he "God"? Nope. Is he laying the groundwork for a winner? Yep. Is he still the best of all realistic options, as he was three years ago? I think so.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

One of the best posts I have ever read on this board, and I am not being sarcastic. While I am irritated with our performance, and wonder how we can turn it around, thinking that we would be better off without JJ is just crazy talk.
