gray? GRAY?!?!? WTF? Since when has gray been an official color of SMU?[/quote]
SMU had grey pants back in the Hayden Fry era, Phil Bennett brought them back for a year or two as well. BEAT ARMY!!!

Looks like navy blue to me...I would be fine with that, but black...no way. I didn't graduate from Tech.
My 12 year old, who attends games with me, prefers the blue or red jerseys. I thought he would like the black.
GO MUSTANGS!

SMU. We don't fool around with current "trends" or "fads". Tradition is everything! We come to play, we beat your A$s, and we wear our colors, RED and BLUE.
Long live Inez Perez!

Creating a thread about a controversial subject just to stir things up = dumb and childish.

If coaches and players think that black will help intimidate the other team, I say get some ballers in here who don't need special clothes and makeup to be tough. When I came to SMU in the '80s, we scared the crap out of everyone and looked good doing it in blue and white.
Kind of reflected in the amount of energy people are spending on the possible alternate uniform (formerly "new mascots" or "changes in Mustang Band music" INSTEAD OF THE BOWL GAME. A lot of folks couldn't afford to go to Hawaii last year, making this the first time in at least 25 years that many will have to see SMU in a bowl game. If Coach J wants to change the uniforms, he will. If he wants to order grey uniforms with brown helmets and have the have the Peruna handlers run a gila monster up and down the field after touchdowns, he'll do that, too. We have a bowl game to play, and a bowl game to win. Quit getting bogged down in the background stuff, no matter how traditional it is, and focus on the task at hand.
Once a Mustang, ALWAYS a Mustang!

Just as long as white has. Good god. The San Diego Padres wear camouflage uniforms a couple of times a year. Sporting goods stores are full of New York Yankees hats that are lime green and baby blue and lavender. How about the putrid threads the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos rolled out? It's the trend of the industry: alternate uniforms. "Different" looks. More crap to sell. Some of it will look good (i.e. the Orioles' grey road unis), some will look awful (seriously, the brown and yellow crap the Broncos wore last year looked worse than what my dog coughs up when he gets into some spicy human food. Are we cheering for a team or laundry?

I wouldn't be surprised if an overhaul of the band isn't far off.

I put a lot of energy into the program...flying to every home game with an 8 month yr old girl, donating a good amount of money and buying many bowl tickets, don't lecture me on what my priorities should be... We have a proud tradition at SMU, and just because we have won 15 games in 2 seasons doesn't mean we can throw those traditions under the bus.... I'm excited for the game and the future, but that future has to include links to our proud and not so proud past, thats what makes us a University and not the expansion NFL team....The colors are important to me, peruna is important to me, because thats what I stood for when we won 0 games when I was there...
