Backups always come out with a fire. KP threw two INTs (first was a bit unlucky) in 4 throws and McD didn't have any in 34 attempts. KP will be back but McD is for sure the man for now. Let's just be thankful we have two solid options, and QB is not my concern going forward. Also, first post.

If this a switch at any other position, other than maybe RB, I don't think 80% of the people notice and doubt anyone talks about the Head Coach "playing head games". Unfortunately, this takes place with the QB position. Since J.J. took practice snaps with the first team last week, I am guessing June had some concerns with Padron before the A&M game started.

However you slice it, having a QB change this early in the season really sucks. I don't think June is playing head games here, and I'm not sure what the upside would be for him doing that. Let's just go out and beat UTEP.

I think that every game Kyle played last year and won JJ could also win or any other average QB in Jones system. I think the real question is , how many of the games we lost could JJ have won? Will see if he's average or above soon enough.

Not to pull a Phil Bennett quote but JJ has developed quarterbacks his entire career and has forgotten more about coaching QB's than any of us knows. He knows KP has the tools, but at this point KP doesn't have either moxie or the inner calm needed to go to the next level. JJ has given him a chance and he will get more chances as the year goes on. KP has to show that he can run this offense without getting happy feet. Right now we have a team that can win CUSA if it just plays okay. We can't spot teams 14 points. Yes, JJ's offense is high risk, high reward, but with a good QB, it can sail swimmingly. McDermott looked good on Sunday, not great. But good is fine so long as there aren't turnovers.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

The one thing that has worried me about KP for a while now is his tendency to have "happy feet". It is a sign to me that he is not comfortable at his position...in fact very nervous. I don't think he is going to progress the way we want him to until he learns to deal with his jitters.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

We will know Saturday if this team is going anywhere this season. We should crush El Paso, no ifs or buts, CRUSH them. If we don't...well.........

This team will have to play a lot better than okay to win C-USA. Okay is what we got last year and we didn't have to deal with Case Keenum.

McDermott to start Saturday against UTEP

If we don't hang 60 on UTEP it's a failure as far as 'SMU can win CUSA' goes

How so? Did any other CUSA team hang 60 on them?
