I'd be shocked if A&M doesn't buy their way out of it, and we replace them with an FCS school or something. What do they have to gain? They can sell 80,000 tickets at Kyle Field instead for a body-bag game and still get a game in DFW at Jerryworld vs. Arkansas IMO, an OOC slate next year like this is ideal: @Baylor FCS @UNT TCU

Isn't A&M-Arkansas going back to Jerrah World starting next year? If so, wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they bought out the SMU game.
Yes, they are going back to JerryWorld which is why I ask. Right now A&M is set up to be @SMU on 9/20 and @JerryWorld on 9/27. I doubt they want to go to DFW two weeks in a row b/c it would hurt ticket sales to the (more important financially) Arkansas game. Also, with TCU setting up that Minnesota game on 9/13 it seems like A&M/SMU canceling and moving TCU to the 9/20 date would be a convenient fix for all involved.

probably one of the reasons Mich. doesn't want to do return games is the size of their stadium. IIRC they can pack about 100k into the Big House. I don't think even jerryworld can get that many into the stadium. Plus there is now way we could fill it.

IDK about y'all, but this is an INSULT that there is no return game. Damn we look like inferior b*tches now. So much for trying to make the AAC a top conference when we can't even deal a home and home.
we look weak.
Good point, I'd rather us avoid being bought up for one-offs like some MAC team or NTSU (especially by a team from 1000 miles away). We were supposed to have a road game at Baylor scheduled for that season.

It is what it is. Let's get a coaching staff in here that can recruit and coach and beat Michigan in five years. then we won't look so weak
Given the 5 year or shorter life cycles of our 5 coaching staffs since DP, 2018 will be a lynching year.
May the forth be with us.

We don't look weak at all. Teams get a return game or a paycheck. We'll get a paycheck in what will be the best matchup of uniforms since the last time SMU and Michigan played each other.

Not if we still have the uniforms with the big stripes on the shoulders. Hopefully they will have some better looking ones by then.

I prefer TCU than Baylor...we have no history with Baylor...we always ran over Baylor in the Pony express years...why Baylor? Stay away from Baylor!

I don't mind playing them every once in awhile. I'm looking forward to opening up their new stadium next season...hopefully Petty and Seastrunk will be in NFL training camps and we will have a snowball's chance.

Back on topic, we will mostly likely lose, but this is definitely a once in a lifetime trip. Seeing your team at one of the iconic venues in college football should be a great experience.

Its a big 10 team - so both Baylor and TCU will be tougher.

Maybe for people that were in school before the Pony Express. But Baylor doesn't mean anything to us who graduated recently. TCU is our rival, and I can see us forming rivalries with Texas Tech and Ok. State if we were in the Big 12...just not Baylor. And possibly a UCF-SMU rivalry if we stay in the AAC.

I don't want to play at Michigan. It doesn't interest me at all for certain reasons.

Real rivalries are about fan interest, fans care about seeing us play Baylor and other Texas P5 teams. They will never care about seeing us play teams in the AAC (see our attendance in C-USA for details).
