For what it's worth: I was a guest in the Stadium Club for the Rutgers game, and an SMU dad from Cali next to whom I was seated said he was a friend of Rick Neuheisel. Said SMU dad volunteered that Neuheisel very much wanted to coach at SMU. I took it with a grain of salt, since I didn't know the guy, but now, it seems like extremely interesting info.

While we could do much worse than Slick Rick, there is no way that RGT signs off on bringing him in here.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I have ZERO desire for Neuheisel to coach here. He's had NCAA issues at 2 programs (Colorado and Washington), and the last one he did absolutely nothing to improve it (UCLA).

I would rather hire Petrino than slick Rick.

All depends on who is in play at the time. If it comes down to Neuheisel and a bunch of losers, then you hire Neuheisel. However, I personally think we can do better. </sunshiner>

Make Mumme the HC and "force" him to hire a few young, stud recruiters with deep DFW / Texas ties. I'd be all over that. I'd prefer that to Neuheisel. Or, how about this? Hire Neuheisel as HC and keep Mumme as Asst HC / OC.

What's your fixation on Mumme? What has he done here that would make him worth keeping?

Mumme is 31-64 as an FBS head coach. Why do you want him?

At least Jim Tressel would give us a seamless transition when the NCAA lets us start paying players again.
