Who said anything about guarantees? Sounds like fear tactic talk to some degree. So we should just be happy with what we have a not try.

Again, you completely mis-read me here. Apologies if I wasn't clear in making my point. I am not happy with what we have, but when I say there are no guarantees it means that the search for our next coach could land us the next Gary Patterson/Chris Petersen or the next Phil Bennett. Hopefully it's the former.

I am grateful that JJ got us to at least above average football and four consecutive bowl games when all I knew as an undergrad was losing seasons and no hope under Bennett. Do I think his time here has run its course and he should retire or move on? Absolutely.

OK, can we all agree that is going to take more than fantastic recruiters to get the recruits to sign the LOI at our dear old Alma Mater? Maybe a shift in how SMU is perceived in general by the public? Just a thought. There are stigmas and stereotypes associated with SMU. Maybe currently that doesn't translate to getting the best recruits. Lazy staff or otherwise. Please do not translate this into and excuse for Coach Jones' staff's failures.

June's strengths certainly don't include recruiting or beating good teams so whatever other ones he has are completely irrelevant.

I have a friend that is a principal at a local school district that pumps out several D1A recruits every year. He's told me for the past six years (June's tenure) that an SMU coach has been to visit the school.......ONE TIME. One time in six years. This school is less than 15 miles from the SMU campus. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I don't think we are an above average to now to be honest.

I think on Rivals we were about 94th in avegae per recruit before the last 2 commitments from unranked players- a few more and we could be looking at 100+ -but I still wouldn't be surprised to see Rivals start adding some 3 stars soon-there are about 3 or 3 that might have some shot at being upgraded.

If only the press would latch on to stuff like that instead of June's excuses.

sorry OK Rivals has updated and SMU is 16th to the bottom of I believe 124 Division 1A schools which would be No. 108 or about in Rivals average per recruits.
