So they are not true Mustangs because they did not write a check to replace him? Did you write a check to replace him? I know I didn't (wasn't asked), so I guess that means I am not a true Mustang by your definition. Seems like by your definition there must be no true Mustangs since he is still here.
REALLY ?

Who are we fooling? Anyone watching our games or who has a contact on the team knows June is toast; and 90% of our recruits are thrill just to have a non-Sun Belt offer...

Appalling? Really? Get some perspective son. Appalling is the way we treat our servicemen and women. Appalling is 1 in 5 American children going hungry. Calling out mediocrity is not appalling. It is a fact.
Publicly disrespecting a group that gives untold millions of dollars to your school is apalling. That's an excellent word for it. Who else are we going to throw under the hate bus today?
Our program does not have widespread financial resources of note and we rely on the generosity of some very well meaning people to foot the bill. If it weren't for the C of C there would be no Ford Stadium, therefore no Boulevard, and we would be playing Austin College and Sewanee instead of Texas Tech and TCU. The corrollary to this situation is that they call the shots. I was criticized by one of Ponyfans most frequent haters because I was one who continued to contribute to the Mustang Club during the years immediately following the death penalty. He didnt seem to realize that without similar contributions, large and in my case modest, there would be no program today. Ingratitude is pretty ugly.

Do the players really think June is toast? I don't know any of the kids on the team. I know we openly speculate/dream of it, but do the players really think he is gone?

Ummm... This is the way it works during the last year of a failing coach's contract... No other team wants the coach.... School can't buy him out.... Lip service is paid in the form of an " extension" ( the coach has a modest incentive to pay lip service )... The coach knows he's done and doesn't recruit... The recruits know he's done and if they have a choice they go elsewhere..... The next coach runs off all the sorry recruits with his own players since each scholarship is a one year deal .... JJ ran off Bennett's new and first year recruits. Same thing will happen with this class. Don't worry - we will only have them for one year.
The only mystery is why the school isn't honest and doesn't avoid going through the charade of an " extension".
I guess it makes folks feel better.

I was just curious, if players made comments to people outside of the locker room. What they thought about the situation.

I'm not sure "failing" is the appropriate term after four bowl games in the last five seasons. But it ought to be clear to anyone doing their homework that JJ is not long for the SMU world.

Failing is definitely the appropriate term. Multiple recruiting classes that appear less talented than those going to UNT is a fail in my book.
And instead of talking about bowl games, just say "finished the regular season 6-5, 7-6, 6-5, 5-6, and 4-7 against FBS teams in one of the worst conferences in the country over the past 5 years". That way everyone knows exactly what you are referring to.

Every time you say "bowl game", substitute "0.500 season."
