Look, this is the modern-day system for postseason football that we all have been enduring for about the last 12 years. The money is too big for this to be contracted. ESPN plays a heavy hand in this because it fills up programming for the last 2 weeks of December.

I get the good-ole-days syndrome talk. Yes, there are too many 6-6 teams playing in them. But whatever.

If SMU gets to one of these bowls, I don't have a problem with it. I'd be happy for the program. We're 3-1 in bowls under June and we were all pretty jazzed to end those seasons on a high note.

My logic is the following: I did not put BU or A&M as games that we have a chance to win...I did however put TCU and UCF. The gap between our talent and TCU/UCF is not as large as our talent vs. BU/Aggy which is pretty darn wide. The gap between us and those 5 games I put as "givens" is almost as big as the gap between us and A&M. Therefore, I think we have great odds to win those 5 at least. I give us a good chance to beat ECU, Cincy and Houston since we are comparatively equal talent, and I give us a fighting chance to keep it close and possibly beat TCU and UCF.
