And more than just football, I'm a former player, and even though I didn't play for very long I can tell you first hand Coach Mel is such a great guy and with such a wonderful family. I'll be really upset if he is replaced.

yes, welcome to the board. i suggest you read the article i posted about what our former S&C coach is doing at FSU. this is a business my friend, and i don't mean to sound callus, but we, as SMU fans, are concerned with winning, not someone's wonderful family. i'm sure Mel's a great guy, and i'm sure his family is wonderful if you say so, but unless those two factors are going to help reduce fatigue injuries, and get our players in optimal physical condition, then i'm sorry, they don't weigh in on his job qualifications.

I read the article, and it's very interesting to me, I'm a Computer Science major... But it doesn't show anything other than our lack of resources. Which we don't really lack, but it's the way that it's allocated that's hurting us.

This is a topic for another day, but I'm going to just vent because it's on my mind. The fact that we do not have an Indoor Facility is completely befuddling to me. I was in the first graduating class at a brand new 3A High School just up the road and we had an outstanding indoor facility built well before I graduated. Why are we building that new tennis complex in what would be the PERFECT location for a multipurpose athletic facility!? If you REALLY wanted to, you could have put the tennis courts INSIDE of that because it could have been a multipurpose building for Mens and Women's Soccer, Football, Tennis, and I can't think of any other field/outdoor sports we have. And to justify building it even more... There's only 3 sports teams using that field during the day, you could even have Intramural sports play in there during the evenings and turn the current intramural field into a second parking garage right next to the other one for gameday parking that way student's won't have to move their cars away from the dorms to the opposite side of the campus!

Sorry, just got off topic on a tangent. I don't really understand how everything works... But it seems very bizarre to me why what I said wasn't what was done.

June didn't want the IPF to be where the new tennis facility is as he didn't want the team to have to cross Mockingbird to get to it. Then he just walks away so it wouldn't have mattered if they had built it there. Guess he didn't realize that Texas has to bus their players across campus to get to theirs from DKR stadium.

I'd like to nominate Karl Jordan. The former SC for the basketball team under Doherty. While the record's were pretty dismal (which has to do with actual skills), I've never seen anyone have the ability to motivate like he did. He worked with a number of future NFL and NBA players at UCLA, Colorado, Ball State, and Alabama A&M. Say what you want about his association with the basketball team, but I think we'd be hard pressed to find someone with more passion and proven success at improving performance (aside from Vic, of course).

Oh, that actually is a good point, because there is always risk with crossing a street that busy so I understand. That really would have been a great spot for it though.
