I just want a coach who can recruit and wants to be at SMU. It's not a high bar.

No to Chiz and No to Fulmer!
Chiz was a disaster on the plains and would not be good on the hilltop. Fulmer was a good coach but I really have to question if he has enough gas in the tank to turn this thing around.
Stalion mentioned Hud down at ULL. He has had a lot of success but he recruits a bunch of academic at risk kids that SEC programs shy away from. I think he would have a real problem getting his type of recruit into SMU.
There may be some good current HC types out there I'm just not sure which ones would be a good fit
Could possibly stomach Mack with good young assistants but would really like Morris.

An "old skins on the wall retread" with Aggy's Beatty as high paid OC coach in waiting would be fine with me.
But Morris as HC and Beaty OC still my choice.

No retreads please God. I am approaching this like a vampire; I need FRESH BLOOD. I'd also take a chance on an up and coming guy, rather than a retread. The unlimited upside really whets my appetite.

Agreed. Outside of NC year, Chiz is a subbbbbbbbb .500 coach.

I've also heard that SMU has compiled a list of 47 coaches that they are going to look at.

Does Oregon Duck OC Scott Frost have enough connections in Texas? How would he do?
