Lots of good coaches out their that lack the bedside rah rah spirit that do pretty well. You all can say what you want but June accomplished some pretty big stuff at SMU....He was sure prepared for Collin Kaepernick one Christmas Eve several years back.

FYI, at least June was honest with you in terms of not caring. Pretty sure someone like Chad Morris would have lied to you with pretended interest in your repeat of a story he had likely already heard 500 times.

The first recruit he gets will probably surpass the June benchmark.

June did some things for us, but he left so much on the table then left us completely. It will take time to heal the wounds he inflicted on SMU fans- that is being generous.

You don't understand much about personal interaction or sales, do you? Do you think Nick Saban gives a rip about half the things he talks to high school recruits and their parents about?

Funny. I imagine the last thing he will be thinking about is Peeuna, or the position of the lights at Ford.

Obviously Johnny Utah has never dealt with the pubic or had the job/opportunity to sell himself to someone; I had for many years and was considered extremely successful because I INTERACTED with the public and made them feel I cared! (and for your information, I DID care!). HCCM is doing it right!

What was Arkpony selling?... All I'm saying is everyone is dumping all over June and I think it is to some degree unfair. At a minimum June showed the Nation (and potential future coaches) that it is possible, however unlikely, to be successful to some degree at SMU. My only hope is that SMU gives Chad the funds to hire at least one proven talent evaluator (not recruiter). Even if Chad can snag a couple of 4 star guys, SMU's success will rise or fall on the ability to sign 2 star rated players who can develop into 4 stars....

You can't be serious Johnny. June was en route to having a statue built outside ford, then threw it all away in spectacular fashion. He lied to big donors, not white lies, "trust me" kind of lies. He lied, really, to all of us. Sorry, no respect for that and his indifference has left us with the worst team in the country. THE WORST. How are you batting for him right now? My God.

The act of hiring June Jones, what it signified, it his lasting legacy now. That is what got us to Morris - as well as the fact that even the Admin understands if we don't start winning quick football is done. The way he conducted himself on the way out could not have been more disgraceful.

Want to know why he doesn't have a job/isn't on a staff right now? Because everyone knows now. No more hiding on the islands where scrutinizing eyes can't reach you and show you for what you are.

Nothing that June gets from anyone SMU is unfair. He flat out robbed this university and lied to each and every single one of us as he sat back in Hawaii laughing at us all.

I am assuming the that the Big Donors are not chumps. So on that basis what did these street savvy donors really expect when they hired a coach who left the Aloha State based on lies about his leaving being about Hawaii's insufficient facilities and lack of university commitment to the Football Program. Everyone knew it was about the money....The guy was a known shameless liar and opportunist, but he had reputation for knowing football and that is why we got him. When he called out that ESPN interviewer with the whole Tebow system QB thing, the interviewer wasn't about to challenge his expertise. I'm stunned at the degree of surprise that some of you all have that June bailed in the fashion he did. When he pulled the whole Arizona State stunt, it should have been goodbye June. And if that wasn't enough, his next recruiting class should have been a trigger. After that point for any donor or fan to feel legitimately mislead or lied to by June via his departure is a joke. It reminds me of the movie Casino where the redneck juiced in cowboy native Slot Machine manager tries to explain to Robert Dinero after 3 jackpots hit on the same machine in 10 minutes that there was no way to determine that fraud was involved. "Ace Rothstein: Listen, if you didn't know you were being scammed you're too ******' dumb to keep this job, if you did know, you were in on it. Either way, your out!.....

The big donors are not business chumps - some probably (I'm being political) got too close to June, it is still bizarre to me. Anyway, he should have been gone after ASU but the big thing everyone forgets in their frenzy is his contract was so damned friendly to get him here, there was no mechanism to just launch him away free and clear. We didn't have the willpower to come to an agreement to get rid of him because there were still some big June loyalists (again, basing their decision to stick by him on what he was telling them and for some reason they believed him, I will never know why) sticking to their guns saying let him try and keep it going. The line I kept hearing over and over again from people was "well, he brought us up and got us to these bowls, we have to give him the benefit of the doubt". I'm convinced the only way he got a lot of those certain people in his corner was pretty much violating their trust.

That isn't business, like trying for a new HC job or even being an opportunist etc.... that's low and pathetic. I think he even started to believe his own crap, but we will never know. Remember how this year was his best recruiting class? We had to privately ask him to stop saying it because everyone knew what was coming. That is insanity. He couldn't even stomach his own team for more than 2 games.

I'm being really political here, I don't want to get more specific because FINALLY it is over and there is no reason to keep beating this, and the people involved know where they/we went wrong. But, please shut up about not knowing we were getting scammed with the Casino quote (classic movie btw)... You don't expect pure transparency in to a HC's mind, of course that is ridiculous to expect. However, you expect a minimum level of decorum consistent within the HC profession. He's probably worse than Todd Graham, but also can't hack it. That's about as low as you can go in my book. You're making an excuse from somebody who's being discarded to the outskirts of his industry, and for very good reason.
