This should be fun - SEC fan boardModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardI think the Notre Dame job is somewhat overrated in these discussions. You have a lot of academic hurdles to overcome there and it's tough to recruit inner city Black kids to a Catholic school in Indiana when FSU and Miami and Alabama are competing with you. Brian Kelly has done a fantastic job there and he even admitted recently in a pretty cryptic statement that its not a job you can do forever

FIFY. Texas is not a top job. Too many egos pulling in different directions. I would add Oklahoma in there.

Florida. Oregon. They haven't won it...yet. They won't win this year, either, but they have unlimited resources and hype from Nike. Kids want to play there. I think Texas is a top job. All of these jobs have their political issues. Alabama wandered the wilderness pre-Saban. Michigan did too. Last edited by SMU Football Blog on Tue Oct 13, 2015 9:04 am, edited 2 times in total.

Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardTexas for sure. How about Tennesee? I know they have been down but incredible support.
Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardWith new TV exposure for the P5+1, any job within those conferences (plus Boise and BYU which have their own side deals), could be good jobs. As long as it pays and you can recruit...
Look at Baylor and TCU, you would think they are the top jobs in the Big 12 right now and not the museum relics (OU, Texas).
Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardAlso, what is the criteria for "top job"?
Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardI dunno why don't you research it and get back to us when your prepared to discuss it

Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardThe Sporting News put out their top 10 coaching jobs in college football:

Re: This should be fun - SEC fan board
IMO, USC is the best head coaching job in the nation. In terms of recruiting, you can cherry pick the best recruits from the west coast and across the nation. USC has no peer west of the rockies which makes it different and easier to win there than say Alabama or Ohio State.
Re: This should be fun - SEC fan boardAthlon ranked all 128 jobs last year. We are 74th...
74. SMU SMU's location and recruiting base are the only reasons why the Mustangs aren't lower as brand recognition, tradition and fan base support are basically non-existent. http://athlonsports.com/college-footbal ... -jobs-2014 SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: This should be fun - SEC fan board
Tennessee is as good as it gets in terms of facilities and fan support, but lacks the in-state recruiting base that Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana have. In order to be successful there you have to poach some of those kids away from Florida, FSU, and Georgia. When Fulmer had it rolling there he recruited CA heavily as well 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
