HCCM interested in South Carolina job???Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???IPF "sure thing" statement is kinda like how they told us "bball penalty will be no big deal" all the while knowing better.
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???I have heard Morris' name mentioned quite often as a potential choice by many. He was highly thought of prior to SMU and his offensive turn around is very noticeable. I just do not think he wants to go anywhere else unless A&M opens up.

Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???
He won't be going anywhere after this season. Hard to sell hiring a head coach with one year at the helm overseeing a team that won't win more than 3 games. Yes he's doing a great job. Yes he inherited the biggest mess in all of college football. Yes he will get SMU turned around. That said a program like South Carolina will want a more proven commodity or someone that has deeper ties to that region than Chad Morris. Agreed about the Aggie job. That is likely his endgame. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???We are an excellent place for him to prove himself, establish relationships with assistants, learn the ins and out of head coaching, while turning us around. I will be proud to see him move on if he can give us 4 or 5 years.

Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???
+1. Also add tom herman to that list..iF he goes anywhere near undefeated this season it's hard to imagine someone doesn't buy out his contract with all of these openings already
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???
Exactly. Then maybe promote from within and keep the train rolling
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???HCCM is very interested in coaching....at Southern Methodist University.
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???anther guy that gets overlooked is Jeff Brohme at Western Kentucky-good football team
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???If South Carolina turns their season around and becomes bowl eligible, they just might decide that Shawn Elliott is the best man for the job. Clemson took a chance on an unproven assistant coach the players really liked and it has worked out well for them. Elliott is a fiery guy and will put together a staff that will recruit like maniacs, but he needs guys with relationships in Florida and Georgia because there aren't enough players in SC to get them where they need to go. Spurrier was aware that recruiting had taken a down turn in recent years and that there was a lot of negative recruiting against his program at SC based on his age. I think SC will want a young enthusiastic guy to counter Swinney at Clemson.
Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???Kind of what Spurrier said today. Quit now and let someone show what they can do rather than leaving at season end and everyone being released.

Like June did last season? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Peruna is my mascot!
HCCM interested in South Carolina job???It actually was. Had Mason turned the team around and won several games (pretty doubtful with the talent we had) he certainly would have been considered for promotion. But it is my understanding it was not June's decision to step down.

Re: HCCM interested in South Carolina job???Only Todd Graham would be interested in quitting on a job just begun.

First, I hope nobody at SMU was seriously considering retaining anyone for tiki's staff. It's like a surgeon finally opening up a body, removing a cancerous tumor and saying 'Oh, let's leave this part in'. Secondly, if not tiki's decision, then whom and why didn't this individual(s) come to this conclusion earlier?
