We play at home the week after thanksgiving roughly every other year. I understand that. Issue for me is bookending thanksgiving with home games. I don't think that is a good recipe for attendance.

I'll take 4 wins. UNT, Liberty, Tulane, and 1 between Tulsa and ECU. Doubling last year's win total is a noble feat when you still have 2 year's worth of June recruits on the roster. Put a couple guys on the freshmen all american team. None of this will chase off most stang gang 17 interest.

"Incremental" growth will cease in 17 and we'll see more "leaps and bounds."

Liberty is no JMU. They've only made the playoffs once since 89 (per wikipedia). But I didn't realize they had Turner Gill and there's no way I'm underestimating any team he's coaching.

My 1st thought was "brutal home schedule". Could make for a disappointing season as we will likely be favored to beat only Liberty. Wins on the road are always hard to come by. Hope next year's team is MUCH improved and that Matt Davis has a monster senior season

I believe SMU could very well be 4-4 after the Tulane game. I dont see this as unrealistic. If they could pull off a BIG upset maybe 5-3 after 8 games! I had said 4 wins in earlier post but wasnt aware of Liberty on schedule.Many have mentioned how awful the D was last year. The D doesnt have to be great just slow other Offense down some. Reduce giving up the quick easy touchdowns so often, cut the points a touchdown or two puts SMU in a lot more games. I think the Offense will be improved and able to control the game somewhat better than last year. With a couple Special team breaks who knows. After 8 games 4-4 or 5-3 would give some hope to the 6 wins to be Bowl Bound! Probably a reach but would be huge toward recruiting 2017!
