JJ is not our best option at qb as shown by his performance tonight. I have a hard time having JJ be our starting qb because we've invested one and a half years in Padron and it's just a waste to replace him with a qb who's never played until 2 games ago and who will be gone next year. And we got very close to winning the conference ship with Padron. I just have a hard time giving up on KP after 2 bad plays.

Anyone who watched the game close tonight should have noticed how bad our wr's are....

Doesnt matter who is playing qb, these guys don't know how to alter routes base on defense, they don't catch long balls, don't look for ball over correct shoulder, dont hold onto balls, dance when the catch it...

Need to come to realization that emannual sanders was best wr wr have had in along time and he made everyone look better

Missed the plays KP was in on. What happened. I saw he had two rushes for 8 yards and no passes.

KP may have played 1.5 years in the offense, but he still cant make the right reads.

Play 1 was an option and he scored a TD

Play 2 was a delayed draw and he got drilled for a 4 yard loss

Both O & D have to make vast improvements. This was not a good win except it was better than losing. And our kickoff team was weak. Penalties are a huge issue. Without them we might have seen a better scoring game by our O. This isn't the team of the ore season hype.

That hype was based on the belief that we were stable at QB. Most predictors seemed to shrug off Padron's struggles last season and assumed he'd have a breakout junior campaign.

why even have him go in if that is all the opportunity he gets? Starting to sound like mind games and not qb building. Are we hoping the 2013 recruit will be our savior and we get a graduate transfer for next year to hold us over. This situation is nonsense.

Just got back from the game. I was ecstatic that we finally beat UTEP, but I am very disappointed in what I saw. So many god damn mental issues it's driving me nuts. Two stupid fumbles and and a meh int. And all those damn penalties after the defense stopped UTEP. Hitting the kicker, then a couple of passer interference calls. This was a very ugly game to watch. Lastly, we need reliable wide receivers, ASAP. So many dropped passes, so many routes that died that could have gone on. Give JJ all that crap you want, but these wide receivers are hurting any QB that starts for us. I really don't see us doing damage in C-USA this year.

edit - I love these boards, but they make me fall for the hype. This team is still a few years away from a truly dominating team (assuming our great recruits live up to the hype and assuming our head coaching gets a little bit better with some game decisions).

7 wins is possible, just a race between KP and McD to see who can find a receiver to they can be on the same page with first. No Al or ES out there now. Zach Line continues to be a reliable back, and hopefully we can get another to change up the pace.

This may be why I am seeing things more positively than many on here. I didn't buy the hype this year. I figured 7 wins was probably about the tops we would get (8 if we were lucky)...and I still feel that way (actually, I am thinking more like 5 right nwo, but that's more of a function of seeing where everyone else on our schedule is than seeing where we are).

Stay realistic. Expect the best out of your team, but realize that Rome wasn't built in 3 hours.

totally agree. KP has played 1 and 1/2 seasons of pretty good ball. Was too soon to yank him and not even give him a chance to redeem the jitters. Putting him in for two qb running plays tonight was just ridiculous.

don't think so. JJ is so stubborn that KP is not gonna get a chance to redeem himself. He'll come in and do the Justin Willis designed scramble thing i guess and probably transfer to SAm Houston State for his senior year and we'll see him in the NFL next time we see him.

KP has not performed well really since the Nevada game. JJ goes through his progression much quicker. Give him time to get used to the first team players.

well, the offense has not looked this bad EVER as it did tonight. NO points in the second half. Say what you want, this team went to the CUSA champ game last year, it wasn't like Kyle didnt compete. And did you see the ECU game? Would say KP looked pretty good that day.
