Hard for the coach to call TO when he QB is scrambling instead of throwing it away. Once a significant time has run off the clock the smart thing is just to take the tie to the locker room. If Pardon just throws it away and leaves a few more seconds on the clock then there is the possibility to take a couple of shots down the field.
Given our field position, odds are we don't get anything useful with so little time on the clock.
