I would think so, considering none of the names listed were from a power conference. However, it could be that they have already gone to all of the guys they wanted from power conferences and got turned down, but that is pure speculation.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I think those are 4 quality candidates, but none of those are from power conferences. I dont understand the reference to power conference ADs.

This just in: jtstang is leaning toward purchasing a Ferrari. He was last seen looking for one at the local Kia and Hyundai dealerships.

By the way, my wife drives a Hyundai. Nice car. Gets her around locally but I would not suggest trips across the Nation.

Sorry. I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. Maybe I can make it up to you at one of the games you attend next year by saving you a seat on the 50.

Okay, okay. Geez, I'll move already. But only for you mrydel, because I have anointed you the voice of reason on this board. And only to the row behind you that's empty.

Bring your friends. I am sure there will be some empty ones in front, to the side, etc.

Current juco football players on roster:

Bobby Chase -- Blinn JC
Randall Good -- Navarro JC
Joe Holmes -- Navarro JC
Damon Hurst -- Navarro JC
Adrian Haywood -- Tyler
Corey Slater -- Dixie State CC

Both Tony Eckerd and Jarad Romo were juco transfers.

We currently have 1 juco transfer on the bball roster (Brian Epps)

We currently have one Northwestern Transfer on the football team, and Dez Willingham from KState on the bball team.

I point this out not because I disagree with anyone that we need to have majors and hour transfer rules that don't unneccesarily screen out juco athletes that can actually graduate from SMU with the right academic support, but to remind everyone that some of the complaining about our draconian juco transfer policies is overblown based on the actual facts. Are we admitting everyone under the sun like some schools? No. But are we only admitting valedictorians who for some reason ended up at jucos after their seniors years? No again. Sometimes our inability to get the most sought after juco transfers has nothing to do with our actual admission and transfer policies(i.e. CAN they get in), and more to do with where those highly recruited jucos actually want to go -- just like the case with high school recruits (i.e DO THEY WANT TO).

Your Football IQ is EXACTLY equal to the number of scholarship offers SMU's JUCOs had coming out of high school. Tell you something?-you-probably not. But it tells anybody that actually knows what they are talking about that SMU is recruiting a small sliver of JUCOs -just as Bennett has confirmed several times this year-who were fully qualified out of high school but nobody wanted. This eliminates the vast majority of the most talented JUCOs who end up playing on the East Side of Ford Stadium and beating us.

All I know is that from that gosh awful rumor mill that the QB we will probably be facing when we play Marshall next year wanted to come to SMU and could not get in. If that is true, I will continue to call for equality in admissions so that we can compete evenly with our conference opponents.

Well, there is no arguing that most talented players would rather go elsewhere than to SMU, but that begs the question--why handicap yourself even more by encouraging them to do so? By that I mean, if most talented transfer candidates want to major in PE or Sports Management or Kinesiology, then by all means lets get those majors so we have a chance to get them in. And you're wrong, lacking those majors DOES hamper the ability to accept transfer hours for those kids.

If that is the only inequity left in the system, let's eliminate it already.

Diamond M, a few of those guys you mentioned qualified out of high school.

I think there seems to be many similarities in Tulane and SMU as far as transfer credits. Also, I think alot of football guys end up Sociology majors here as well. At least, they did when I was in school (93-97).

I do believe that BenW was talking about Tulane's program not having jucos. Not sure if it is a factual statement for them, but he was not referring to SMU in his post. I think he is from Tulane.

Probably has nothing to do with the point of your post, just some clarification for Ben's sake.
