you are probably right, but I'm thinking 20,000 plus although it may be 10,000 of ours and 10,000 or more mean greenies

No.

TCU will be playing U.T. in Austin (televised) at 6 p.m.
A&M will be playing Fresno State in College Station (televised) at 2:30 p.m.
Texas Tech will be playing UTEP in Lubbock at 6 p.m.

The SMU student body and many alumni will - once again - hang out on The Blvd. to watch those games on TV (or stay at home to watch on TV) or travel to those destinations to watch those games in person. And you'll see more people on Sept. 8 at Ford Stadium dressed in green & white than in red & blue.

Good points all. I must say it is refreshing to see you embrace reality like this, Mr.MustangOU812. You wear it well. And it doesn't mean you're not an SMU fan, so don't let the sunshiners tell you otherwise.

My advice to you is to adopt the no expectations approach as soon as humanly possible.

By my posts the past couple of days I thought it was obvious that I already had. And when I need advice from you, I'll ask for it. Until then...

Well, you'll get it, even unsolicited. I want to make sure your kind does not bring down the realist movement. Welcome aboard, MrMustang7-11

...and why would you want to make sure that 'the newly reformed' does not bring down the realist movement? Isn't that your agenda...to be a realist?

While I'm sure that there will be a lot of people hanging out on the Blvd instead of inside the stadium, I don't think it will have to do with all of those games. Seriously, A&M vs Fresno??? Tech vs UTEP??? Every week, there are much better games than SMU vs. whoever. I don't think that those two games are games that people are dying to watch. We'll have the standard number of SMU students, alumni, and fans (minus myself) at this game. The bonus for us will be all of the Denton fans who want to see unt play.

I know I am kinda late to the party here, but haven't had the chance to get on the board in a while. I wanted to bring the thread back towards the intent of the original post.

My group has multiple boulevard spots still. We decided not to drop any because our spread sometimes takes up all the space. No one in the group is what you guys are discussing as big dollar givers (there is some "age" in the group, but they would kill me if I said "blue hair"). What we do have is the fact we have been tailgating there since day 1. So yes, the university does reward long term fans, but you had to have been paying for long term. And yes, as pointed out, this is a supply and demand issue. I had to wait 4 years to get my second spot when it only cost $80 for a space.

As far as squating goes, I really don't think you will have a problem. I can tell you if we show up to our spot and there is someone with a wheeled cooler drinking beer (the wife prefers champagne), we couldn't care. Just introduce yourself and help us setup the tent. We have two nice trees you can leave your cooler under. I think you are going to find that most of the crowd feels that way, or at least everyone that tailgates around me.

So what this all comes down to is, if you were squating by simply wheeling around a cooler, come on down.

Wont lie, while I did pay the higher price for the boulevard spot, it cut into the cowbell fund. I will probably be begging for donations here soon.

You are one of the best supporters I have. I need to make you a special cowbell. Maybe donors will get blue ones...

I could allow squating on my tailgating spot for a donation to the cowbell fund...
