So you are just kidding yourself even thinking that. I agree that Martin has the skills to be very productive he just doesn't have the mindset and attitude that it takes to be great.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I keep hearing, if Martian this and if Martian that, simple fact is when he fell from the top last year he fell hard. After every game there were talks of injuries which i know he can not help but if u saw him after games he was completely defeated!! Even at his prime he would never make the Texas roster, hell not ever the A&M roster! And Butler has a lot to prove before he gets penciled in over Dorsey!

Anyone running behind the Texas OL is a better runner..

I agree with Longhorn.. Martin would have a chance to go 2-deep at Texas..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I think he is a decent back and all, but if he is so great and is good enough to play for UT, then tell me why in the hell they didn't recruit him?

Easy. They thought any kid dumb enough to go to TCU was not UT-worthy. :D

Not saying this was the sole reason, but I believe Martin was injured for part of his HS career.

Perhaps everyone needs to read this article again or for the first time for some of you. I think you are going to see a Martin with an improved attitude and focus this fall.
I'm sorry, but I just find it funny that anyone would contend that Mapps (or anyone else on this team) is better than Martin. Martin is one of the only players I've seen in recent years that could crack the starting lineup at Texas and the other one is referenced in my sig (what a waste). Martin has the potential to single-handedly make this team very good and very competitive... but he has to want it. If he doesn't, then, well, I don't what else to say.
...............I said Mapps was a "legitiment treat" not a home run treat and I like his chances for a " big play". I also said Mapps plays to his potential and that he is a good tough little back. I never said he was more talented or better than Martin. I have said I think Martin has great potential if he is ready to play and really has 4.45 speed or close as claimed... I hope all that is true... But we really haven't witnessed that kind of speed yet from him on the football field. More like Stallion said 4.7........Frankly if Martin were at Texas or OU, his blocking and catching ability out of the backfield, might get him on the field as a fullback. He reminds me more of recent OU fullback J.D. Runnels than Eric Dickerson or Earl Campbell. And that is a compliment to Martin as Runnels was a great fullback.

What exactly is a legitimate treat? Would that be something chocolate covered or maybe a Happy meal toy. Whatever it is count me in.

You're right. I haven't given Dorsey his due regard this off season. It just seemed that for whatever reason, he wasn't given the load to carry last season when Martin went down in Denton. I don't know why he wasn't "the guy" after that.
