And that would be extremely tolerable to borderline noise.

I'm old school Mowtown from Detroit, but this is a combo of real music, rap, and a story.

Can't run on to the field with it :D

its not about you...its about the players getting amped up enough to have some fun and win some games

I was at that game; the guys did get hyped up opening day at Bright House Stadium. I always laughed at how the words just zipped over the elderly. Once again great beat horrible lyrics.

We are not confusing the DJ Smu remix of "Hurt" are we?

Perhaps the glee club could sing "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm okay".

Really the point is moot manly because it doesn't matter what is coming out of the speakers right now. No matter what is being played our fans will be on the Blvd or sitting next to their walkers - I don't see the blue hairs getting jazzed about Enter Sandman. So I say play what is going to get the players excited, the fan reaction is going to be the same until we win. When they played "Knuck if you buck" I enjoyed watching the players have fun and get into it, and I think recruits will read it that way too.

And yes, those schools mentioned above do also play rap....Here is Texas at home and on the road at UCF:

I personally witnessed this action @ UCF it was cool. Everyone rocked out to it, old and young, no degrading women, no ugly language, just the real deal so loud the stadium rocked.

They spend more energy dancing and screaming at each other than whipping some tail on the field. It seriously looks at times like they would rather dance than play because they get so excited when the rap turns on before kickoff. This music is a horrible idea. I actually like rap music, but it doesn't fit right at a college football game and especially at traditional & conservative SMU. I have always felt it to be so awkward, uncomfortable, and out of place when they have played rap in the past at Ford. The fans look so confused or upset. Do the fans want the rap music? They are the ones who should be catered to. You need to get the fans involved, fired up, and loud. I doubt Young Jeezy will have this effect. Cash money hoes! Seriously? Do Florida, Texas, LSU, OU, OSU, TCU and other top programs play this rap at games? I doubt it, and players want to go there and play right? Because the fans are loud and involved. SMU does need some better traditional band songs too. Ours are a little too soft for my taste. And our band needs to change their unis. I feel bad for those guys when I see them. So painful.

Are you kidding? Did you not see the UT viral vid of the entire team doing some soulja boy dance on the sideline at a game against UCF? Wake up man.

No link. I'm citing a player interview...

Guess you'll have to wait until the SFAG game to see...

Some guys (all I remember is Devon Bailey as part of that group) remixed a song and it got a bit of play at one game a year or two ago - I don't know if yall remember that...But it would be bomb to get Ford crunk like they do at UCF's glorified high school stadium...or Penn State. It doesn't even have to be Zombie Nation - Ying Yang Twin's What's Happenin (Boom, it's on...) and even Soulja boy will get the students in the stands and a loot more excited than listening to that crap we have been the past few seasons...We are painfully lacking music that gets the stands, or the guys, going. Nobody wants to listen to Israel's Somewhere Over the Rainbow during pregame...or dramatic movie music...it just DOESN'T pump them up.

SMU played "Knuck if you buck" at some point in the 2006 season. The team went bonkers. People forget this.

That soulja boy video is gay as hell. So damn embarrassing really. They look like a bunch of dancing sprites. No one in the stands is pumped and yelling at all in the videos you guys posted. They are just really confused.

Couch'em - I actually do like rap and personally own a decent collection of it. My profile does represent the typical SMU fan, and it is not about me, me, me. It is about what I see going on with all of the fans when rap is turned on at the games. I bet you that 10% or less of the people that attend SMU games know who Young Jeezy is. It was maybe 25 % for soulja boy at UT. You really want to cater to that small of a percentage of fans?

Having said all this, I am now for having rap at games. Maybe we could get these guys to come and they could perform in between series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7yfISlGLNU

Seriously though after a night of sleep and reading some posts, I am now game for rap as long as it doesn't become a dance off between players. Play 50 cent-In Da Club, Eminem-Lose Yourself, Black Eyed Peas-Pump It.

Oh My God!.....it is just going to destroy the fans to play one freaking rap song that maybe the students and players like!

No! No! No! No!...one rap song is just wayyyyyyyyyy too much to ask because it upsets others that want everything their way and the "way it's always been done".
