Because TCU doesn't sound like a million other things to people outside of Texas. I'd say when I tell people outside the region that I went to SMU, it is probably around 10% that either know it is Southern Methodist or guess correctly on their first try.

If we get there, and I think we will, the guys we have been recruiting in the area can make it. So can ALL the fans, not just the ones who can afford to fly to Hawaii. But I digress, and hope we can go to a bowl period.

Let the team make it to a bowl first, then take the latest date bowl we can get any extra practice time will be like money in the bank next year.

ABSOLUTELY.

Those extra 2-3 weeks of practice time are invaluable.

Would really be sweet to get a post Xmas bowl.

Actually, the number of practice sessions for bowl games is limited by the NCAA, so everyone gets the same number.

Not saying a team playing in January vs. Dec. 19 doesn't benefit from additional "voluntary" workouts, time watching game film, etc. But as far as actual practices go, I think you can only get extra for a conference championship game.

Trust me --- those "voluntary" workouts will have everyone involved.

They'll get a little time off for finals, a few "voluntary days", some time at home, and then back to the grind. The jumpstart this gives to spring ball and the following season is huge.

Air Force beat Army. As long as Navy beats Army (or Army drops one of their other two games) that makes 6 C-USA bowl games.

I can see a realistic schenario where no less than 9 CUSA teams have 6 wins.

Ran one last night where we go 6-6 and six teams can still get 7 wins. Need to win two.

I know this is really old, but to answer your question, there is no good reason. TCU has a policy in athletics to refer to itself as TCU. SMU has an almost identical policy. I can conclude is that TCU enforces it and corrects outsiders and SMU doesn't.

Official University Name
The name of the institution is Southern Methodist University. When referencing the athletic department, please always use SMU (e.g. SMU Athletic Department) instead of Southern Methodist.

I can't copy and paste it, but TCU's statement can be found on page 202 of their 2009 media guide.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
