How about getting your dad or uncle (I forget your relation to 65) to stop yelling at the players and coaches when they mess up?

Oh, c'mon spoilsport. Don't ruin his "help, help, I'm being repressed by the MAN" story with facts.
It's more fun to hear about why it's a BAD thing for the school to maximize revenues.

you have a hard time w/ reading comprehension...

1. I asserted over and over again that 20x20 isn't worth 3,000...apparently no one else is paying that much for their real estate, does SMU charge you more for your spot if you have 100 people hang there?

2. I offered up that SMU fails utterly to provide meaningful entertainment for the students on a regular basis and that Greek life can do more with that 3,000 then SMU can any day.

I probably threw some other stuff out there along the way but those are my main opinions that everything has been revolving around.

1. Alums pay $1,700 for a spot and don't split the cost with others. I don't know what other organizations pay.

2. SMU's purpose isn't to entertain you. SMU's purpose is to educate you and provide opportunities for you to grow as an individual. I'd say allowing you an opportunity to drink and bond on campus, for less than the cost renting buses to go to an off campus party, meets those purposes.

Hey frat guy,

If you don't like it, don't pay it. You have a choice. Instead of finding a solution you've chosen to use a fan message board to show the world how silver the spoon is in your mouth. Here's an idea: take the $3k donate it to charity, buy some keystone and blow with the leftover money and throw a party at the house. It will be terrible because everyones at the blvd, but hey you're sticking it to the man! Parrty hard, with two r's.

You crazy frat kids should keep your money, go hang out at the law school tent or engineering school tent, eat and drink for free, or any number of other tents, and hit the game. Been doing it for years and its fun and FREE. I can tall you from experience that the Special D guys are not stingy with their beer.

Maybe they will go to the football game inside the stadium.....maybe even go early and stay late and make a lot of noise in supporting the mustangs the "old fashioned way" rather than drinking too many beers and shots and never making it into the stadium. Maybe they could even affect the outcome of some of the games! Try it, you might like it.

Not sure if your concern is making sure you are going to have a good time or trying to help someone like the Children's Miracle Network. If you are concerned about both which I suspect is the case, write the check for your fun time and do some work for a charity.

As an example, we partnered with a grocery store to provide grocery bags which we placed on the doorsteps of the surrounding area houses. Each bag had a note stating who we were and that we would return the following Saturday during a specific timeframe and would pickup any bags off the doorsteps that contained nonperishable food. Our entire frat house was full of bags with canned food. You couldn't walk anywhere. Texas Food Bank loved it and from what I hear all food banks are low right now.

Another option that may work and be easier would be to come down to tailgate spot 33 with a large sound system. set it up and play a lot of country and Carly Simon - someone might write you a check to leave but most likey will destroy your system.

Good Luck
