Hawaii is not running the JJ run and shoot. I watched them against BS and a lot of the time they are in the "pistol". Course they did not have a lot of luck with that either.

From what I've seen their coaches say, they are still running the RnS. Lining up in the pistol formation means nothing. June Jones had his QBs under center until he got to Hawaii.

We lined up in the pistol against both Tulane and UTEP.

Evidently we were just shooting blanks. :(
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

thank goodness SMU fans are beginning to sound like other fans of other schools...'our coach needs to move on', etc. I am grateful for the chance to blow leads, play under expectations, and even lose to teams that we are favored against...it is almost like REAL football played at REAL colleges...sheesh, we sound like a bunch of Aggies...

first real winning we have done in 24 years, and we are already [deleted] and moaning about the fact that we let some teams romp us this year.

I am dissapointed with many aspects of our performance this year, and often times curious about what I see JJ doing...until I remember the recent past...

" ALL OUT".

Agreed - we were far better off when our defensive genius of a coach would yell to the other team exactly what we would be doing on every play.

"ALL OUT, ALL OUT, ALL OUT!"

Honestly, I don't know what it is about people. It's the human condition, I guess, to have perspective and thankfulness for about ten minutes.

I too felt like June was our saviour and when he guided us to 7 wins in a pitiful conference and delivered a blow out bowl win to a team with one of the worst secondaries in the history of NCAA and their top two running backs out, I was on board. But we need to look past that.

First off, its fair to say, that this team is soft, no self control, and no imagination. June got his butt coached off tonight, we never go for it, we never run fakes, we never run trick plays, we just do what the book the says. We make so many stupid penalties, sure...lets blame the refs, but if you had your head down, just playin football, there would not even be a grey area to get a flag.

Run and Shoot......How can you make your QB run over and call a play without even seeing how the defense is lined up and who they have on the field? This is just June being stubborn. Stay at the line and use hand signals, like every other GD team in the nation, just lazy. Sure, lets say, he gives the QB an idea and then he can audible...Bulsh!!!!!!!!....June calls a draw, regardless of the defense...it is run.

Bad Coaching with no imagination.

I love June, but the game has past him by, the quicker he goes the better, we need a coach with some fire, that won't put up with those penalties, that will score more than 14 against freakin UTEP!!!!!!!!!!...Talk defense all you want, but we hold them to 28, we shoulda won 50-28.... Lazy offense with no imagination or flexibility.

OK, ready for the Lord June Squad to come snipe me...but this offense is not good, its unimaginative, its set before the defensive formation is even seen and it is now behind the times..witness the points put up by some other teams this week.

On top of that, June takes no chances, runs no trick plays, never goes for it on 4th down, unless dire circumstances....and MIKE PRICE, of all people, outcoached him tonight.

Peace!

If that is the case, it sure has gone on a long time. This offensive scheme could very well be showing its age.

Are all the June apologists so blind as to actually not ask the question "why don't more teams run this offense?" Its the same reason why not many teams run the wishbone, there are other offensive schemes that are more effective and dynamic.

Can it still work on occasion? Of course.... see us putting 45 on Nevada last year or Navy scoring 76 against ECU.

Nothing stupid about my post, stop being so closed minded and see the bigger picture, if this offense was really so great, more teams would run it.

Its all June knows, and he is either too lazy or stubborn to make some basic changes and adapt. Not to mention, his lazy game management of doing every decision "by the book".

I hope we can get it going and win these next two weeks, still does'nt change the fact that this offense could be improved.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

This is just ignorant, Jones' offense has changed significantly through the years, and what we are running now can barely be labeled "run 'n shoot". I wish we were running a real run 'n shoot, because then we'd be putting up more yards. As it is now it is clear that Jones doesn't think we have the men to run it.

You are such an idiot. I cannot believe I would deign to stay with you!!!!! ... Kyle Padron is so much better than Colt Brennan it's an affront to comparisons. It's an affront my saying I am a better filmmaker than you. Seriously, if you had a Panavision camera and I had a Fischer Price Pixelvision Camera and I gave you a three year film school head start I could still whip you like a PC with a Mac wish.
