To help you understand- the definition of elite is found on the internet as being: e•lite/iˈlēt/Noun- A group of people considered to be the best in a particular society or category, esp. because of their power, talent, or wealth.
Not one of the 2010 Big East teams finished in the top 25 in football. Therefore you could hardly consider them as being ‘best ‘ or elite in that category.

TCU will immediately be one the top teams in an otherwise low ranked BCS conference. Look at their competition? WVA, Pitt, Rutgers, U Conn, USF? Perhaps - Villanova, just up from FCS? I suspect they'll get to a ton of BCS bowls, while their hoops team is a doormat.
