There are a lot of vets in DAllas
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas SchooWell I guess we are now going to have to see how this thing plays out.

Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas SchooWuba, it's widely believed that 2012 will be the breakout year that SMU has been waiting for. I'm not saying that a single 10-2 or 11-1 season would assuredly get us an invite to a BCS conference, but it would definitely help our image. If, and that's a big if, JJ leaves this season then there is less of a chance that we'll be able to see huge success under a new coach in 2012 even with KP and Line being experienced seniors.
An acquaintance of mine has ties to the athletic/academics process at SMU and says that JJ is not happy that the administration is refusing to further lower its athletic admission standards/is annoyed that SMU doesn't have the "athletics-friendly majors" that TCU, UT, A&M have/etc. Apparently there's reason to believe that JJ will leave after this season because the administration is not giving him everything he wants (a recurring theme over the past few years) and he'll publicly cite that as his reason to quit. If true, just confirms that he is an [deleted]. I thought we already were at NCAA minimums for athletic admissions. With respect to the majors, sure we probably should add some additional majors, but unless they were specifically promised to lure him from Hawai'i then he knew what he was getting into. On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas SchooPlus, true or not, how many jobs can you leave citing "I didn't get what I wanted?"
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas SchooJumping back on topic, SMU has seemed to always do things quietly, and I'm a fan of that. Albeit I'm going off a short history, but in hiring Jones and landing the W. library, SMU was as low key as possible, and in both situations we won. Hopefully the right people are working...quietly.

Who knows, maybe if that happens Adrian Klemm becomes HC. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas Schoo
He already proved to me two years ago what a fuckhead he is. He MO is to whine and moan and manipulate to get what he wants. And if he doesn't get it, he'll point the finger to those people for making things "so difficult for him". I have no time for him.
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas Schoo
I'm confused. If this had come from Stallion or Nick I would walk away and say "ok" they are consistent in their views of the staff. Coming from you, however, this is shocking. If JJ is such an @$$, why defend anything he does? But that's not appropriate for this tread. Stallion actually posted a very good comment on another site concerning the potential positive impact for SMU if these reports are indeed correct. I will let him post if he so chides but it was actually a unique perspective and something I do nit think has been raised here. Ponyfans.com voice of reason
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas Schoo
You've got me confused with somebody else. Ask anyone who said that I have ever defended Jones. My disdain for Jones has been this way for years. But that's how I feel about him personally. Plus, I think his offense blows. The recruiting angle is a little different. Now, I do think that June has a really good team, and that SMU is going to have a good year. But I would prefer SMU have someone else running the program with an approach that is different from the "killing me softly approach.''
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas Schooit appears to me that June has a lot of things he needs. There is always going to be a struggle with the academic side here. If he needs a easy academic program, go to San Diego State or something like that. There is not much pressure on him. He seems frustrated to me so if he leaves I wouldn't be too surprised. We all don't know the full story, only June knows. I think the AD budget is probably more troublesome.

And boom, you have just sidelined your best recruiter. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas Schoo
Don't you think Klemm could recruit coaches that know how to coach and share his vision and passion for recruiting?

And boom, you have just sidelined your best recruiter.
Don't you think Klemm could recruit coaches that know how to coach and share his vision and passion for recruiting?
I could tell you about my love for my wife but that does not make you want her nor her you. Klemm barely has any assistant coaching experience and you want him as our next head coach in 2012. No way. We are ready for another big name to continue the momentum whenever Jones does leave. And if Jones takes another job, count on Klemm being right behind him. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: MikeTaylor760-Twitter: Big 12 Contacts Other Texas SchooIt's well known that JJ will use his complaints as leverage to get whatever he wants.
Sounds like that's what is going on here. I wouldn't expect him to run off anytime soon. ![]()
