Re: Ford expansion drawingsSo you are going to tell the $10.00 end zone fan he has to pay $35 for an inside seat or are you going to tell the inside seaters that paid $35 that the $10 payers get the same seats as them (ala jtstang)?

Re: Ford expansion drawings
They do that now...jt is not the only one to crash the $35 seat gates. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Ford expansion drawings
Hmm. guess there is a serious flaw to my idea. ![]()
Re: Ford expansion drawingsI thought University Park had said the stadium couldn't go any higher on the east side because of some zoning ordinance or something.
Am I right?
Re: Ford expansion drawingsHere is an image of the new dorms being built next to the existing stadium for reference:
![]() Also here is a link to the campus master plan as of Sept 2010 in pdf. It is a real shame we are so limited in height by University Park, but the fact that we have our stadium on campus surrounded by students and just a stones throw from the first building ever built at SMU is amazing. Well worth staying inside UP. Does anyone have a more up to date map of proposed SMU expansions beyond just the stadium? There are a lot of different buildings on that map I have never even hear where in consideration.
Re: Ford expansion drawings
That can/will change. We can, essentially, get whatever we want - within reason, of course. ![]()
Re: Ford expansion drawings
Figured we had to wait for all the Bush Library anger over one simple parking lot to die down before that. Not to mention the battle for price to buy that tiny alley way on the new dorms. Can't wait to see SMU in twenty years time. Someone had posted some 3-d renderings of the new dorms before but I cannot seem to find them.
Re: Ford expansion drawingsMaybe you need 3-d glasses.

Re: Ford expansion drawingsSeriously, we've been boosting their property values for a century. If they don't like it, they can go pound sand and move somewhere else. I'm sure we can twist little ol UP's arm.
Re: Ford expansion drawings
I think their decision to stay indpendent of DISD has more to do with their property values than their proximity to SMU. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Ford expansion drawingsI meant about any building height restrictions...I'll be totally honest I have no idea what that has to do with DISD haha.
Re: Ford expansion drawingsHe is implying they don't want their kids and property taxes to go to DISD. HP is one of the best public high schools in the nation.
UP was actually started by just the homes surrounding SMU and relied on SMU to provide utilities. As the town grew they tried to join HP and Dallas but were refused due to cost, so they created their own town. UP owes SMU and not the other way around. But, also I would like to see any proof SMU lowers property value. Our facilities are top notch and probably far more valuable per square foot than any homes they border. Not to mention the privilege and benefit to live next to a premier University on the rise. They have to know SMU will always be growing and improving.
