I think we are trying to get into the ACC as a soccer-only school.

I'm on page 3 of a 500 page book. This site is single-handedly bringing down our academic standards.

What legitimate BCS Buster won't be a member of an automatic bid conference? Looks like TCU and Boise will be accounted for. Houston, too.
We are not a legitimate BCS Buster at this time. Not with one loss and in CUSA. No reason for us to have been included in this statement.

Neither is TCU... and they were included.

But they have been the past few years. Just trying to keep SMT from jumping off the stool. Nothing is going to get him to remove the noose.

I believe he is inferring they are no longer a BCS buster as they are about to be in a BCS league

I imagine Dr. Hitt (UCF) will try and pull SMU and Houston into the BE if we get the invite. He is still buddies with Orsini and is juiced in on the television side with [deleted] Nunis (ex Chairman Walt Disney Attractions and on the Board of Trustees at UCF).

I have wondered what Orsini's relationship has been with UCF since he came here. Glad to hear it's still good.

I sat next to Orsini last night at a JV football game. I didn't talk to him a lot, but that subject did come up. He still has a lot of respect for UCF.

for some reason [deleted] Nunis does not sound as appealing as [deleted] Kunis.

Re: Joe Schad reporting BE meeting with UCF now
If this becomes our reality, it is probably the best for us at this time. Let's look at the pros and cons of the current reality (that was for jt).
SEC:
pro - prestige, AQ status, and we would get to play some of the best teams out there.
con - we would be a doormat for a long time if not forever and would rarely if ever be in a BCS bowl game.
Big 12:
pro - get to play most of the old SWC teams again and get AQ status and might occasionally get to a BCS bowl game.
con - we would spend most of our time in the bottom half of the conference ranking .
Big East:
pro - AQ status and the best chance to have an opportunity to play in a BCS bowl...not guaranteed, but a good chance and would boost our BB recruiting.
con - may not be as prestigious as some conferences on the FB side and we would be playing a lot of teams that we have no history with.
C-USA:
pro - It's not all that bad a conference and definitely better than the WAC and we are on a path to be in contention for the top spot on a regular basis.
con - Non-AQ and not much up side.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I still think we could regret it if we get a Big East invite and accept it. The Big XII could pull the rug out from under us real quickly.

No matter who the Big 12 invites the BIg East will still be better than CUSA.

Not without West Virginia, Louisville, and probably UConn. Not to mention added travel, cost to fans and students. The loss of rivalries with Rice, Tulsa, and Tulane. Money isn't everything. And the Big East without those schools will probably NOT be AQ and will not bring in any more dollars than CUSA anyway.
