The only program that will have a better recruiting class than SMU in the state of Texas will be UTEP. We will be outdone by UNT, Texas State, UTSA, and Rice. Now you tell me if that is acceptable or not for $2M a year.

Great city
Great academics
Beautiful campus
Good (not great) facilities
Biggest hotbed of HS football talent in the nation
4 bowl appearances in last 5 years

With all of these advantages on our side we will have the second worst recruiting class in the state of Texas. This needs to be shouted over and over and over and over again until the June supporters can't think straight.

How many of our recruits even have offers outside of SMU?

Our latest commit claimed interest from Houston Baptist. Couldn't even get an offer from Houston Baptist or even start for Houston Lamar so we throw him a $250K scholarship. Awesome stuff.

What does it look like when you add in FCS offers?

Good point, the hard part is finding a credible platform for disseminating the info.

Gonna be hard to pry his lips from June's backside, a lot of people were posting replies where he basically ignored reason in favor of regurgitating June's talking points.

June still has swag with some old NFL types like the Goose. I'm sure Gosselin put all of five minutes worth of thought into that article before he published it.

Does SMU still practice in the morning?

If so, what do the coaches do every afternoon, all afternoon? Even if you don't talk to a player or coach, how hard would it be to just show up for an hour wearing an SMU shirt/jacket? Perhaps, just give the coach a quick "Hi how are you" or "Coach, I really like the way you run your practices". If a previous poster is correct about the school 15 miles from SMU hasn't seen anyone from SMU in 5 years...

Interesting catching up on this post late.

Everybody knows that June is not doing it on the recruiting front. Klemm proved that a good recruiter could get top players interested in SMU. I think the point of this post is that most people think the cure all is just a staff a young recruiters. And while that will help and certainly is better than nothing, I do think the bigger question is, is this school committed. I think that is the bigger question that we are not asking. Why has June given up? One of the interesting things about June is that after his first few years at Hawaii, he could have had any number of PAC 12 (PAC 10 at the time) jobs. He was a former NFL coach who had the best turnaround in college football and the hardest place to win. Oregon State was interested when Erickson left, UCLA was interested when they fired Toledo, Arizona was interested when they fired Tomey, Washington was interested post Neuhisel. He was never interested in those PAC 12 jobs. Was happy being on the islands. Liked turning around places. That ASU interest was strange, he could have had a job like that post his 12-1 sugar bowl team easy. But he chose SMU and then one day just did not want to be here. Never has made sense to me. What soured him on SMU?

Same thing that soured him on Hawaii. Once people figure out he is a fraud they stop worshipping him. He then gets grumpy and blames the school for not doing something he says they promised. Then he leaves if he can find a new chump. He is Out of chumps now and we can't afford to change with 2mil on the clock.
