Wasn't Sproles a little faster?

Sproles ran a 4.33 and had the fastest time in his draft class. He was also barely 5'5 in cleats and a helmet. His thighs were also the size of totem poles

Right. Because 5'8" Barry Sanders was awful while being arguably the best running back of all time. 5'10" Emmitt Smith was terrible while rushing for more yards than anyone in history. 5'7" Joe Morris stunk with all those touchdowns. Warrick Dunn, all 5'9" of him, couldn't play … for a long time in the NFL. Neither could 5'7" David Meggett. The Ravens are wishing 5'9" Ray Rice would stop making Pro Bowls (not sure what the status of his legal fight is.) Wasted roster spaces, all.

Wonder if any of them only ran a 4.86 40?

So now Lotus is comparing any 5'9" guy we get to those few guys that had tremendous success in the NFL? Lotus sounds like he id Corso. I think we can name many more 5'9" that did not make it.

He was responding to the poster who said that if he is not another Darren Sproles then he was a bust. Seems to me his point was that there are other good players at that height, he did not say he was as good as them.

Are you saying these players are all as good or better than Darren Sproles? Yes? Then we aren't really disagreeing, are we? My point was that unless he has rare play-making, game-changing talent (like all those guys you mentioned), taking a 5'9" guy is foolish. His highest ceiling is lower than an average 6'2"-6'3" guy, and judging from his stats and 40 time, this guy is not rare. Trotting out diminutive Hall of Famers doesn't really discredit anything I said. Aim before you shoot, bud.

You can easier name the outliers than every middle of the bell curve player in that height range.

FWIW, all this hitting up of schools and offering better players appears as though it's just lip service. Just read an interview on a paid site from one such four star who said, "I haven't talked with the staff in about a month or more." Which was when they offered..... Yes, it's one player, and the kid has a ton of offers, but it's still pretty ridiculous that you offer a kid and then just don't talk to him. Must have gotten lost in the fog of war, right JJ?

You think they are just making it up? And by "they" I mean the multitude of recruits quoted as saying the same thing. We ought to have a thread-The June Jones Recruiting Negligence thread and count each time a highly recruited player says something similar. We are definitely already into double figures for this year

Sounds like the norm with this staff... I'd question it more if he said a report stated that a recruit said June had been contacting him weekly...
