Money works folks. These guys are not in this game for fun it is their career and 2M is still a very viable package.
I hate to be the voice of reason but look at facts. Yes, money talks but so does the fact that you're jumping into a situation with terrible fan support, questionable admin support, zero chance for a better conference schedule, a state with the most uber competitive recruiting scene and a student body that does not reflect or embrace the athletes you're trying to get. JJ had a shot after year 2/3 but that has long passed. It's over.

Yeah. The students really hurt is in hoops recruiting.

LA - your are just being stupid - sorry. SMU has a great deal to offer - there is no reason we can't at least be what TCU was in the MWC - no reason at all.

MIke Bobo, UGA O coordinator. He's affordable. He is still under the radar, unlike the A&m & Clemson guy. He can recruit his tail end off. His offenses score a lot in the SEC, no small feat.

How does Utah State and North Dakota State build powerful teams? They do not have any of the above.

Okay, them tell me, what does SMU offer to an elite football player? In basketball we offer a lot, and as an academic school we offer a lot, but what do we offer to an NFL bound recruit?

We had nothing to offer in basketball until we got Larry Brown and he sold people on us.

Lashlee would also be a good choice. His name sounds like he should be coaching in TX.

True, but now we can offer elite competition (OOC AND conference), elite coaching, a soldout building every game and TV every game.

*on LB, not SMU. Don't kid yourselves, the players are coming here for LB and his staff. We'd need the same thing in football, someone who recruits like a madman

it doesn't take an elite football player - it really only takes 3 stars and an occasional 4 star. And a sensible offensive system. Easily achievable at SMU. and if you think the P5 are done moving - you are nuts.

Why would they go above 64/65? How does that benefit them?
