I mean, they're always going to be at least one rung below us in the conference realignment totem pole, so shouldn't they root for us to do as well as possible and move up to the big leagues so they can take our spot in the AAC and fill the DFW market void? Perhaps that involves a little too much critical thinking for them, though...

Delusional and smug.

If we are waiting for you to leave the AAC for a P5, we better get used to CUSA for the rest of our football existence.

Realize what you are and work to improve.

We are going to a P5. We are one coach away in Football and already there in basketball. We will provide the ratings and revenue necessary with basketball and football will soon follow once we breach the 10 win barrier. UNT is getting better and they may take our place in the AAC once 2026 comes along and the big dogs decide to take a big hitter in a huge market with them.

Not a fan of UNT trolling our board recently by the way. And to those who doubt, we are still TCU's rival, ask any TCU fan. We may be inferior to them in football this cycle but 25 years ago we dominated them. Things come full circle, fyi and they have never been for UNT-SMU. (28-4) and soon to be 38-4 when the home and homes end.

This post is evidence that freshman English is not a required course at UNT.

I don't see your logic here. TCU wouldn't drop a game they feel is an easy win, that still draws interest with their fan base. I would understand the logic if they were still in the MWC when they needed their OOC schedule to be as tough as possible for a shot at the BCS, but their conference schedule is already tough enough in the Big 12. As far as perception goes, both schools have a good relationship and it wouldn't make sense to throw away a storied rivalry. Like I stated earlier, the overall record is 46-40-7. SMU still has the most wins in a row. Programs have down periods. Sadly ours has been since 1987. The way I see it is will hire a new coach next year and get on the right path. Call me optimistic, but SMU will end up on the right side of realignment. We are a storied program in a great market with a lot of potential. Everyone saw how fast the basketball program has turned around. If we get the right guy in here we will be okay.

As for UNT, I do not mean to be offensive when I state you are not really our rival. You just are not a traditional program (for clarification I would consider any Texas school from the SWC a traditional program). We have a national championship and a Heisman winner. You can say, well that was a long time ago, and I would say that is the point. We have a strong history, even including the dark parts. I wish the best of luck to your program. I do not agree with people slandering your school or program. I have had friends including family and co-workers that went to UNT. I only wish the best of luck to you. Clearly you are a program on the rise with a new stadium and conference affiliation, but you must remember that you moved up because SMU moved up. Mr. Dunham should at least acknowledge that. I feel this can be a great series and possibly develop into a quasi rivalry in the following years. I am looking forward to Saturday as it is clear that most of the UNT fan base is as well. Good luck and see you in Denton.

Good post. The one thing SMU has they can hang their hat on is their history and their affiliation with the SWC. I can't see TCU dropping SMU from the schedule either but crazy things have happened. But rather than looking back at where SMU used to be I believe they need to focus on where the program is currently and work to improve and scheduling UNT is not a bad idea IMO. Both football programs are on equal level right now and both are local. I think it's only wise to play each other and generate more local interest.

Not sure what your definition of trolling is. Our schools are playing each other this week and I can only speak for myself that I've been very civil and wish you guys nothing but the best except for when playing NT.

And you can deny it all you want but both of these programs are on the same or similar level right now IMO.

If we're going to play UNT for the next decade I at least hope they're a solid program in CUSA so our wins over them look better. We should never lose to them, ever. This Saturday's game may be their best chance to get a W in the series

I find UNT posters as real extremes. Either very nice and hospitable or complete knuckleheads. You seem to fall into the former bucket, but there have been many others in the later. Same can been said for just about every fan base.

UNT's seems a little more idiotic than most. I mean they just HATE us. It's bizarre.

I agree, it is bizarre. They hate us for no other reason except maybe the 28-4 record.

They don't like our snoddy attitudes because we think we are better than they are. But truth is truth.

You'd think they would direct most of their hate towards Texas Tech since that's where the majority of their students were rejected by when applying for college.
