In some respects, he's right. This thing is in shambles right now. The truth sucks.

With the exception of telling the nephew not to take a visit, hasn't all of this been said on this board a number of times? Even amongst supporters.

No news here. Besides, ED gets the benefit of the doubt.

The nephew thing was during Bennett, right? We sent him some form letter inviting him to the camp and ED got pissed and publicly bashed SMU. He's been doing this for a while.

Who am I thinking of then? Was it James and his son?

Seals-Jones is the real deal. He had us listed all along on Rivals but I guess we never had a chance.

That is probably correct. I think he ended up a Tech.

Bigtime love for ED, but he is way out of line on these comments and it basically shows that he hasn't watched a second of SMU Football this season. Let's debunk some of the garbage myths that are going around:

1. Academic Standards too high - absolutely was valid with Bennett's years, but couldn't be further from the truth now. Just look at all the recruits that we let into SMU with Klemm as recruiter that never touched campus. SMU LET IN KIDS THAT THE NCAA WOULDN'T.

2. June Turns Average Players into NFL Talent - June is a solid developer of talent...with Bennett's recruits. (Beachum, Morstead, Sanders, Robinson, LeRibeus, Beasley - was a Bennett recruit and stuck around through June hire)

I was at the North Texas game and saw the Baylor game. If you think that June was an engaged coach and/or we are not better off for this in almost every aspect, you are insane. June never liked Dallas, he never fit with SMU or really even enjoyed it here, and he was collecting checks. Thanks for the bowl games June, but now that allllll of Bennett's recruits are gone, we see just how little you've invested into the program in not recruiting.

And...Gerald Turner. If you think that there is any President in this COUNTRY that would have SMU in a better place as a University, please feel free to let me know. The University is serious about athletics (see new bball facilities built or committed to BEFORE Larry was even hired). Football is a cornerstone of this University and will continue to be.

And no support? How about your alums saying we will foot the $2 million/year salary of your football coach. Give me a break ED.

Please argue that the fans are apathetic. Yes, they are. This is the least encouraging/exciting to watch team I've maybe ever seen. I don't blame a single fan for not showing up to this debacle. It's a proven fact now with basketball, create a winning tradition and SMU support is feverish in Dallas. You can't buy a ticket to a basketball game. It can be done for football too.

Here is the ED interview. Sounds like he had just woke up and was kind of groggy. He does not sound as bitter as some make it out to be. And he does make a good point about black players not feeling welcome, even Larry Brown addressed that issue with some fraternities when he got hear. He said that SMU does not sell Dallas enough. Again, his tone was more of frustration than bitterness.

Dickerson did have another relative a long time ago that visited but I don't believe he went Division 1A. I it was in as far back as 1998 or 2000

If that's how he reacts to his buddy running the program into the ground then I don't want that mercenary back.
