Fulmer won 10 games and the SEC East at in his second to last season and went 5-7 in his last. He left about 8 future NFL players for Kiffin also. If that's terrible, I can live with it.

So you're saying Fulmer went 5-7 with 8 future NFL players on his team. Another reason to fire him and another reason we shouldn't even waste our time interviewing the guy.

Stop with the Fulmer, Mack, Chizik, Nutt chatter. We need younger, not older.

If you actually paid attention, I said Fulmer was too old and we shouldn't consider Chizik. I was merely pointing out that calling Fulmer's record "terrible" is complete malarkey. He coached in the SEC for 17 years and his lowest win total was 5. Phil Bennett had 6 NFL players on his last team and went 1-11 in CUSA. That is terrible.

Since we do not have the restrictions Bennett had I am for going with a young energetic coach with a similar staff.

If we hired someone as dense as Bennett again we would be right back where we were, poor analogy/comment.

Please remind me of the details last time. Was Paul Johnson thought to be the man before he took the GT position? Then June Jones was selected and some said he had been the real candidate all along? Shades of WDNWHA, I don't see anyone getting the job unless approved by RGT after a major input from the C of C. I see Hart sorting through the possibilities more than anything else.

As with most large businesses the final call will be made by the board, in this case we could consider that the CofC. But Hart will be doing the heavy lifting. He will make the selection and then it will be his job to sell his man. Yes, the sign off will be by others, but as I said, thus will be Hart's defining moment.

Biggest complaint from HS coaches on college recruiters: "They are great guys ,but they only call you when they need a player!" Big mistake

Different perspectives:

Ticket's Hardline think SMU would be crazy not to hire Mack Brown if he were available. Pretty surprised that 2 guys that actually do follow college football think Mack Brown can get "just about any job he wants". Really? They think Mack Brown would be the one turning us down rather than SMU being the one with luke-warm interest. I understand how a Mack Brown program could be successful at the AAC level but they seem to be oblivious to our other options. Its like they consider the SMU job the same job it was in 2000. I don't think that's correct-I think with the right hire focusing on Texas oriented staff we are poised for unprecedented post-DP success. I'm also optimistic that from now on there will be accountability from Day 1 on what is expected in recruiting-that kind of excites me

According to espn we are the second worst team in the nation... are we in that much better of a spot than in 2000? I do think we are better but dont kid yourself into thinking there is a line of candidates knocking on our door. Mack would be a huge improvement, the influx of talent alone would be unreal. College is all about recruiting and everyone knows he can recruit.

Yes we are in much better position than in 2000 in just about every category a Head Coach considers in taking a job . It was a mess. I really don't see anything that is keeping us from competing for AAC championships now other than fan support. And I had a long, long checklist of things that had to be changed back then

Well he could recruit to UT, but then one would have to be dead to not be able to recruit to UT.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I was always find it funny how the local media seems interested only if we have a coaching change and then they think they know it all
