How is this not Phil Bennett repeat?...High paid dominate D-Coordinator for Kansas State, Texas Roots, no-nonsense, committed to recruiting DFW etc....

We needed a Gruden-Harbaugh type splash, and we got a Phil Bennett Part II. Next four years will be the final paragraph of SMU Football's obituary....

I'm just curious though, please give me Chad's recruiting pitch when he walks into the 4-Star recruits home.....What are his selling points to a recruit?....It can't be SMU's game day experience or facilities, it can't be NFL connections, it can't be experience. Let me guess, it's going to be a "trust me".....

This will get him started... He was head of the THSCA therefore every HS coach will view him as one of their own and know who he is. Besides selling all of the benefits of SMU, the HS coaches themselves will be selling CM to the kids. Kids are influenced greatly by their current HS coaches.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but this board has been dripping with negativity for years. This is a grand slam hire, but even if you don't agree with it, support the hire. Every fan needs to contribute to get this ship moving.

His recruiting pitch which by the way can't be worse than JJ's the past three years is (1) I'm from Texas and your coach knows me. (2) Meet these two alums who own NFL teams; (3) Hey, you know you might not make it in the NFL or only play a year or two, we can offer you the greatest opportunities for life after football. (4) You can start for us next year, or do you want to be at the bottom of so and so's depth chart? (5) We have a national TV contract. (6) You will play close to home. (7) Come to campus and tell me the eye candy isn't the best in the world.

Everyone here is in a post-Thanksgiving haze of happiness and glee. This hire symbolizes just about everything that we have been clamoring for years:
1. Young and energetic HC
2. Texas ties
3. Strong recruiter
4. Modern and entertaining system
5. Eager to create a like-minded staff of young recruiters
6. Highly respected individual per Texas coaches as well as in college football
7. Has been sought out by plenty of programs above our caliber

And you go ahead and take a massive dump all over this? That'd be fine if your argument could hold some water but its nothing but negative conjecture.

yeah your right, Dabo Swinney is such a "cool" person that he just stands in front of a recruit and they immediately brag to their friends and family that they merely caught a glimpse of him... Said no one ever.
