Let me clear this up-Rebel10 is correct

We aren't going to fire Malone

We aren't going to hire a consultant

We are going to implement our new defensive scheme which is the 4-2-5

We are going to try and find players that fit into their roles in the 4-2-5 whether that is this year or 2016 or 2017

Our justified emphasis on offensive recruiting in 2015 left Malone with a short stick partly because we had too many mini-mes and new offensive roles to fill

There are likely no immediate upgrades that are going to rescue this defense-because our defensive recruits were and are injuried or physically unable to contribute yet

You need to get over your busted bubble that 2015 was going to be a Bowl year-it is a transition year on both Offense and Defense-this is how a Head Coach implements his system. Not tear everything up and try a different scheme. We are already too far down the road in identifying and committing recruits that fit the new defense. Especially on defense its going to take about 3 years to get this thing rolling.

Sorry but coaching has to get a big part of the blame. It's one thing to lose a close game to an FCS team (tcu lost to NW St early in Patterson's tenure) but to give up 730 yards is a fireable offense. No I don't think the DC should be fired but he should certainly be on the hot seat. I know what June left you with but it should still be a push in terms of talent level with James madison.

There is no reason to fire anyone- we have two new coordinators and players learning a new system. My opinion, but I don't think anyone should be pushing for that.

That said, there are some things that you see from the box that you don't see on the sideline. Coordinators who are on the sideline either 1) don't want to give up their position coach roles when they first transition or 2) really want to be head coaches and they feel like they need facetime on the sideline.

Coordinators are supposed to be the strategic minds. They need the bird's eye view. When see things up high and you see JMU spread us wide, and catch us with 4 down linemen and one LB in the box so that they can run "QB Power", at some point you have to start going zone to keep players inside. It isn't like Lee is a super accurate QB who is going to tear apart a zone. When you are higher up, it also helps you see that Sutton is not being doubled on the right side of the field and that Davis only looks left side. It helps you make adjustments.

Putting coordinators up high, of course, is my opinion. If we had other, experienced coaches sitting up in the box, it would be a different story. But the whole staff is young, which in my opinion means it is more important to get them up there.

Regardless, there aren't enough adjustments being made over the course of a game, so something needs to change.
