I don't know if there are any kids out there who pick a school solely because of the uniforms, but over the years that I've done the interviews for the Recruiting Roundup, I have had several players tell me that they were split evenly between two schools and the uniforms and/or shoes each school wore determined the final choice on more than one occasion -- not that often, of course, but I have heard that said more than once.

I was with you Stallion until you said none of the players we're recruiting ever saw the 1980's era jersey's. Several times during the SMU/UAB game they showed Craig James shots from various games in the 1980's while they poked fun at him.

Let's not forget our endzones and bleachers at Ford are royal blue, yet our helmets are midnight garbage. The midnight has to go. It is so dark we had to add the silver outline around the pony the second year we had them. Loose the mickey mouse designs on the side too. Oh and also please lose the pistol formation.

My bleachers are red. Am I in the wrong stadium on game day? If so, I am sorry Jtstang for giving you seats in the wrong venue.

I hope ponyplayer is right about the royal blue look. In every sport, those uniforms looked great.

yeah, but the blue in the endzones when we were at Texas Stadium was navy, creating the backdrop for "MUSTANGS" in white

I really hope we don't wind up looking like the Calgary Stampede (i.e. red helmets)

Much like our off the rack Nike uniforms, the blue in the endzones was probably as close as we could get to the color we wanted from the available colors used by the turf manufacturer. Ditto the bleachers.

You know PK, when you used the words "off the rack" something struck a chord. Why not ask Tommy H., Ralph Lauren, or Henri Lacoste to design our uniforms (or whichever one of them isn't dead)? We might even have some alum who is a name designer these days. I mean the uniforms might turn out pink and green, but why not get a name brand designer to work with us instead of shopping at the Nike outlet store. People call us snobs, just think if we had our uniforms designed by one of these guys, we could walk the walk on the football field as well. Look Biff, they're wearing Polo today.

For once I agree with Stallion! Any objection to the uniforms of the DickerJames era (other than just not liking the color/combinations) is pure PC of the worst kind. Those uniforms had class with a capitall C!

Colors per Orsini..
Blue - pms 286
Red - pms 186
You can google the colors.. not quite a Navy Blue.. but not quite Royal Blue
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
