First SMU game on TV-68 Bluebonnet Bowl
First game in person-Lost to A&M in 69 at Kyle Field
First game at Cotton Bowl-vs. Rice in 72.
Favorite moment (tie)
DK Perry running back the opening kickoff against TCU to begin the season in the Jerry Lewis bowl (Great start to my freshman year)
Beating Texas 20 to 6 in Austin in 80
and of course Bobby Leach vs. Tech in 82.
Another of my favorites was the game in the rain in 84 against Baylor with a miraculous comeback from Don King and company.

The first game I attended was the opener of the `95 season against Arkansas. I remember having a great time: the first college football game I attended as a student, my first Cotton Bowl experience, first ever trip to Fair Park (I had only been in Texas for a short time at that point). And the Ponies won!
I was pretty let down that we did not win again the rest of the season...
I do have this memory of a guy who - at many games that year would heckle the vistor`s bench constantly (I always seemed to be sitting pretty close to the front near that area). Finally, at one game - maybe BYU, maybe not, a stadium attendant told him if he did not cheer in a positive manner he would have to leave - at which point he he switched to "I`m positive you guys stink, can not read, etc. " . This guy never quit even as the season wound down to it`s dismal conclusion.

My Dad SMU 50 told me that heckling the visitors bench was what you
were supposed to do in the student section
Maybe they could move it over to the 50 in Ford, and place the band
down low.

I think it is against CUSA rules.

First SMU game I attended was the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl, but I was cheering for the other team.

It is. We had to get special permission last year during the UAB game to move over that far.

You would think with our crowds we could get permission to walk the sidelines.

You're not going to like this one.....
The first SMU game I attended was against UH in 1989. I began school at UH in 1986 and we played at SMU (10-3 Pony win) followed by two years w/o football.
The first SMU game I attended as Pony fan was in 2002 against Navy. The win over TCU in 2005 has been my favorite so far, closely followed by the '05 win over UTEP.

Ah, the Astrodome for 95-21. I went down there with three frat bros. The whole thing was ridiculous.

SMU v Air Force - Oct. 7, 1961. Mustangs win, 9-7 at the Cotton Bowl. I was 4 years old. Still have the program. Bought a bobblehead SMU football player. Still have it, too.

1976 SMU vs. Arkansas, but played in Shreveport, in the stadium that later became the Independance Bowl. That was the first game I saw live.

1995 first game of the season versus Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl my freshman year. Flanagan was injured on the first offensive play for the Mustangs but they ended up winning. I remember riding back to campus on the bus with upper classman excitedly shouting, "wake up freshman, you're dreaming!"
Turns out I was. No more wins that season. I think this was the first game I encountered the "Hot Dog Guy." That guy was just plain awesome.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.
