You seem to not be very knowledgeable in regards to your band's history. Might I recommend you consult Mithrandir before you post next time.

Well that's my question - is that $2 mil to put in a complete, ideal bandhall, with practice rooms, sounds insulation, a museum wall with fancy lighting, nice offices, sound and video systems, nice shelving with locking doors, a locker room, etc etc, or is that to put in the bare minimum habitable space, with air conditioning, a few basic shelves, and some el-cheapo walls to put in an office and a library?
I would say that the $2 mil is for the ideal scenario...though I am not sure about the museum wall with fancy lighting. As far as the locker room goes, I'm not sure why we would need such...Dedman already has locker rooms, we used those this year, and it worked out fine. Besides, what's the difference between the current band hall and a cheaply-done band hall in Dedman? Location.
Is that why it takes the band so long to change in the 2nd quarter, because you are trekking to Dedman to use the locker rooms?
It takes too long to change uniforms because people are too busy answering all their text messages, talking about Tarzan and Jane, and goofing off... The new band hall is to be a whopping 200 feet (or so) from our designated section and would contain everything there is to need. We don't have to mess with walking all the way through the Dedman center (or running all the way around the Stadium, dodging little kids, to the top floor of the all-sports center), down the stairs, finding our bag which is SOMEWHERE in the vicinity, and then fighting everybody else for room to change clothes.
What I don't get is why some people decide to [deleted] on everything no matter what it is. The Mustang Band in all of its glory will hopefully keep changing uniforms however it damn well pleases, when it damn well pleases. It's a new band hall. It doesn't water down the Mustang Band, it doesn't change the Spirit of it's members. It is simply a nice facility that REWARDS the Mustang Band (God forbid) for it's outstanding loyalty and dedication to the University.
For clarification, we change uniforms once a football game. And we wear different uniforms each game. It's tradition. That's why we do it. The name "The Best-Dressed Band in the Land" was coined during the Dreibrodt era, circa 1961.

No one was ever proclaiming that all uniform changes should be done away with. You know very well that the matter being discussed was in regards to the length of time it takes.
We will continue to build superior electronics and automobiles. We are the Japanese.

I always thought the Germans and the Italians made superior automobiles. I guess Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini are no match for Toyota and Honda.

Superior basically means "above average" or "excellent" as I have used it. English is a tricky language. Keep practicing and you may yet master it.

I know my band history well enough - the band has been around since 1917, and uniform changes have been around since '58.

If "well enough" includes being informed that you were wrong and then going back and changing what you wrote, then yes, you do know the history of your band.
Also, you may want to change your signature to something more accurate.

This isn't to knock the alumni band, I just don't think that the student band should be in the habit of relying on the alumni band to do the student band's job. This has been a relatively recent development at football games. I think the alumni band should be able to play on the boulevard and around the stands in the second quarter, but I don't think they need to be a surrogate for the band when it is time to change uniforms.
Amen.

Y'know, for awhile I've assumed that the next vehicle I buy would be a BMW 700 series. Then, the other day, parked in front of my office I saw a Lexus LS460L. Wow. I think I've changed my target.
