I have to respectfully disagree with the distinguished gentleman from Austin. I'd submit that the SEC's bands are better.
Tennessee-try going to a game that they're at and see how long it takes to get RockyTop out of your head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFNc_rHE ... re=related
Florida-that whole jaws thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u985Y3jF ... re=related
Alabama-a pain but their band is persistent.
Georgia-their "goooooooGeorgiabulllllllldogs" thing channels 2LiveCrew's heyyyyyyywewantsome$$%%)#)))..." Not to mention the Battle Hymn of the Republic.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygj-1o4qHkc
Ole Miss-how do they still get away with playing Dixie?
and LSU...I'll spare you guys the details, but listen close after every first down on offense, after each 3rd down stop on D, and every TD. Not to mention the salute to all four corners of the stadium before the game begins.
I read somewhere that UGA spends like 400k a game to travel its RedCoat band to all the conference road games. Impressive.

Respectfully, the SEC bands are sot even close to the Big Ten bands. The Outback Bowl and Capital One Bowls revealed the difference.
That's fine that Osborne had 2 NCs. But their was nothing but a sympathy ploy from voters. As for Scott "have some cheese with your wine" Frost, when he got on the postgame interview and lobbied why they should be national champions, I think the reporter was quick to hand him a box of kleenex. What a baby, he was.

Same thing with Paterno in 82, but you say SMU fans can't complain about that year, hypocrite.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

You misunderstood. I'm not really not ticked about it. I'm just using their philosophy against them to see how they like it.

Look, bottom line is if you think your team (or in your case conference) got screwed, then you are going to complain about it. Since you don't care that SMU got screwed in 82, but are more than willing to complain whenever the Big 10 is slighted in the leaset, that make you a bigger Big 10 fan than SMU fan. No question.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

You are going to fault a kid for lobbying for a national championship which was being stolen from him? That was a 22 year old kid, not a football coach--and it was 10 years ago! YOU STAY CLASSY THERE PATTON!!!!!!
Btw, had half the sports writers not turned their ballots in before the Orange Bowl was even played, there would have been no splitting of the NC that year. Both trophies would be in Lincoln.

Lawrence Phillips defined class at Nebraska.

Yes, one football player from more than a decade ago defines the classiness of an entire University. You are brilliant.
Why don't you take a look at that Big East coach that drove Michigan into the ground this year!!!!! He's REAL classy! (Or perhaps you should take his advice and get a life.)

Oh, I think it was more than one player. Phillips just set the tone. And you know that.

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.

We all agree that you need a thug element on your team if you're going to be any good.

Penn State loses to USC (a possible #1)
Mich. State loses to UGA (a strong team)
Northwestern loses to a sliding and weak secondary Missouri
Wisconsin loses to an improving FSU
Minn loses to a middle of the road Kansas team
Ohio State loses to another possible #1 Texas
Iowa beats a middle of the road SEC team South Carolina
Not that I care for the Big 10, but they lost games to some very good teams and middle of the road Big 10 teams lost to some other middle of the road teams. Seems a wash all in all. Are they as strong as the Pac-10, Big II, SEC, Big East and Conference USA, probably not? But they are certainly better that the MAC.
*Conferences W-L
Pac-10 5-0
SEC 5-2
Big 12 4-2
Big East 4-2
C-USA 3-2
Mountain West 3-2
Sun Belt 1-1
ACC 4-6
WAC 1-4
Big Ten 1-6
MAC 0-4
• Doesn’t include last night’s GMAC results.

Do not make assinine statements about things about which you do not know. Name some other players, instead of saying "I think." Who are you speaking of? Tommie Frazier? Brook Berringer? Michael Booker? Kris Brown? Grant Wistrom? Aaron Taylor? Jason Peter was later addicted to Vicadin--oooohh how thug-ish!
My brother-in-law was on that team. I graduated from medical school with two other members of that team. There were a number of Academic All-American's on that team. How is that for tone?
By the way, Lawrence Phillips was long gone before 1997 and Scott Frost, which is what we were discussing--making your retort about him idiotic.

FYI - CUSA was 4-2 this year. Tulsa won last night. Unfortunately, we lost the Liberty Bowl.
