Nick, there are over 4,200 "degree-issuing institutions" in the United States (that number is rapidly decreasing) so to say that TCU is merely par (which, by definition, means average or standard) would suggest that the school is somewhere around the middle of the pact, or around 2,100. The US News & World Report issues a heavily biased annual ranking of 1,400 colleges and universities and ranks TCU 110 and SMU 68. And while I despise the rankings, I do acknowledge them and to say that TCU is "not close" to SMU is...outlandish. If TCU had a med or law school (one of the heaviest factors in the ranking) we'd easily be just as low or lower than SMU. That, coupled with an outstanding campus (yes, I know), high endowment, and larger application pool (almost twice as large!) and lower acceptance rate makes TCU a wonderful place, just like SMU! I love the ponies and I love the frogs. We're on the same side! Change the world.
Not trying to start something. I am asking so I understand. Has TCU had any academically ineligible players recently and if so, how did TCU handle it? Did TCU find a solution to eventually get the players eligible? As I have said many times, TCU is our rival, not our enemy. The enemy is the BSC and the NCAA.

Ponyte: I'm sure we have and I do not know how we deal with problems like that.

One Man's Tragedy is Another Man's Opportunity
I speculate this could open the door for Devon Bailey, the Syracuse graduate transfer and others to go back on scholarship. Is Jerry Gray's son Jeremy still with the program

Sure, anyone can pass them................ unless of course that particular "anyone" is getting up and walking out of class every day, right after attendance is taken. When you walk out of class constantly, and maybe dont show up for a test or two, even the friendliest professor stops giving you the benefit of the doubt. The situation is wore widespread than anyone realizes, there will be more casualties by the end of summer school. The NCAA imposed limits on the number of hours you can take in summer school to regain your eligibility. I believe the guys being talked about now are already past the point of no return for fall semester, summer school isnt enough to save them.

Well, that'll do it. I guess you can lead a gelding to water but you can't make him drink.

As I said, going to class, staying in class, acting like your trying in class, makes all the difference in the world. At least one grade level in my opinion. If the prof thinks a kid is doing the work and listening, he'll cut the kid a break. That also means not having ear buds in your ears during class listening to I tunes and not texting your girlfriend.

If that is the case, they should kiss goodbye to the scholarship. If a guy tries and does all that is asked, I am for doing everything possible to help him stay eligible. If he is not making an effort, cheating, skipping class, not doing assignments, etc. cut him loose and reload.

The coaches at coug. high just tell the players,"you don't have to go to class, you just need to catch a pass".

This is not 1970, 1980, 1990, or 2000 anymore. It's 2010 and TCU is ahead of the curve (pun).
I believe you actually meant "out weighs"...but then what do I know...I'm just an SMU grad.
Yeah, but you were an SMU engineering graduate: "outweighs" is one word. Stallion wrote:One Man's Tragedy is Another Man's Opportunity

Jeremy was here all spring, although he missed a few practices with a sprained ankle (I think that's what it was). Haven't heard anything to suggest he's going anywhere.

Yeah, but you were an SMU engineering graduate: "outweighs" is one word. Damn journalism graduates.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Players are offered a 240 thousand dollar education. If they don't go to class, read the books, write the papers and take the test.... " Go by your locker... your ticket home has arrived "

$240,000? Is that the 4 year or 5 year price and does that include summer school?
