I'm just glad the fire marshal didn't show up. We piled 750 into the main theater before opening up the balcony, which held another 200. Standing room only. I''d guess 900+ showed up for the premier and the crowd went wild for Dickerson, Ron Myer, Steve Orsini, Bob Sharp. June jones and others when they appeared on film.
I think the film bogged down a little in the middle. It's sort of like they advanced chronologically through the whole story, then after the Death Penalty, they sort of went back through it over again and rehashed it. I think it would have been a better "football" story if they had used that time to chronicle the Ponies' season last year then pickup where the film did with the win at the Hawaii Bowl. I know Thad has tons of amazing game footage.
Well, anyway, a very small nitpick which I'm sure had go do with trimming the film to the ESPN time slot. Would love to see the film tweaked and see a feature film length version hot the film festival circuit.
Anyway, a great job done. My apologies to all for the SNAFU getting in. Until the day of the event, I had no idea that Thad's people had another list of about 150 invitees, that the Mustang Club was bring a couple hundred, and that Thad's family, some media (like Randy Galloway, who was in the film), folks from ESPN -- weren't on any list. Plus we had a huge number of walk-ups for what was essentially a sold out show.
Anyways, seems like everybody found a place, and from the enthusiastic cheering, I think e stylus loved it.
