Good point soccermom - really miss the diamond "M" & the other lettering using that style! That's our history for sure.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

New uniforms. Red and white, from what I'm told. Sadly, no blues have been ordered, but thankfully, no black uniforms have been ordered, either. I'm with those who think that reviving something close to the plain royal blues from the Pony Express years, SMU would sell a ton of them. Even if the school has some contractual obligation to adidas to go with those stretchy uniforms that apparently are the 2011 style, go with the royal blue, small block lettering and numbers, and those suckers will sell. Surely the marketing department can explain that to Steve-O. Oh - never mind.

I guess they can't even make it crimson either - our real school color? (sarcasm)

Better than that garbage black that made us look exactly like Maryland from 50 feet away.

I am an old guy who likes tradition. The team colors used for the first 50 years was red helmets and and plain red jerseys with white pants(after the change from moleskins in 48) in the school colors Marketing is not being carried out, but most on this board would not like the types (the average common non degree citizen) you would get as fans if true community marketing was properly carried out.

Just another reason to have one or two "retro' unis & helmets one or two games annually.

Personally I don't care what they wear as long as they win. And keep in mind, our "tradition" for the life of the kids we are recruiting now is a long suffering tradition of losing. I for one think we should hope to get passed that.

I understand your point, but traditions is what makes college football so great

I completely agree that tradition is what makes college football great. But traditional powers like Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, and UT don't have to rebrand themselves. We have had two winning seasons in 25 years. What ever we have to do to create interest in the younger generation, I am all for it. I really believe that is what this coaching staff is doing. They are recruiting a lot of kids who know nothing about the program and are trying to build a new tradition. We are moving beyond those pre-death penalty days.

I assume that all this can change depending on which opponent we are honoring on a given week.
