I do not think that commenting on the lack of marketing budget is letting anyone off the hook, it is highlighting the fact that the athletic department ridiculously does not have a marketing department. Seems like it is calling them out not letting them off the hook.

Has Steve O ever offered an explanation as to why he nuked the marketing department? Never mind (for a minute) the people who lost their jobs because of this little stroke of genius, but I wonder if anyone thinks the athletic department is in better financial shape after saving the few dollars that were spent before on marketing.

Yes, the reason is/was budget cuts.

Empty Bus payments,that hurts when there were no rumps in seats that should have been on those paid for buses.

People like Thad and others on this board could be a grand asset to SMU. Marketing and Sales is a growth area for SMU....That is the nicest way I can put it.

And we do have someone back that is selling advertising, and he's doing a great job, but we need more cash inflows before we can have a full time, year round sales force.

The fact is that there is 1/2 the budget that they had in '08. Too bad we don't have that when now is the time to blast the city. I don't know the reason but I think that is coming from the budget the school gives them. Most of the staff are doing 3 jobs. It stinks and is what it is.
