Perhaps the frustration is that we don't seem to be making any progress, and June not embracing life in Dallas, or SMU makes us feel that he isn't giving us his best effort. Basically, if we don't play any better the rest of the season, we aren't going to be going to a bowl, forget conference championships. We aren't going to be able to back into the conference championship game like last year.

I just hope recruits don't see it as a sign that June doesn't want to be here.

Wow, some people are reading way too much into this. I think it is silly to think that three years in Dallas is going to erase his connection with the MANY years he lived and worked in Hawaii; he identifies with the culture out there, and if that connection helps him to do his job then so be it. To imply that he is somehow "not committed" to making SMU Football as good as he can make it simply because he wears a lei just doesn't hold water. When it was 100+ for weeks on end this summer, hell, I wanted to be in Hawaii too! Give the guy a break on this and let's focus on football. He has stated that the goal of this year is winning the CUSA championship, and right now we are 1-0 in conference so we are on track for that. Does anyone here really think he is going to tank the season and detract from that goal just to get to the Hawaii Bowl?

This year is the first year that the Conference USA champion DOESN'T have to go to the Liberty Bowl. Therefore, SMU can still win the conference but be headed to Hawaii to play the Univ of Hawaii, rather than play an SEC opponent. Which game is more attractive? Playing a team like Georgia (last year's rep), or play a WAC rep (Hawaii last year, nevada the year before). SMU would also sell more tickets to the Liberty Bowl than to the Hawaii Bowl. Let's satisfy Jones' ego and go to Hawaii (again). However, with a game like last night, we may not even get to bowl eligibility.

I think after 4 years its fair to say he'd make a great Coach at the University of Hawaii. He hasn't shown he gives a damn about SMU except for the Paycheck. That may [deleted] off a few but his actions speak volumes. There is no other Coach in America this disrespectful to his school. Examples if I'm wrong.
