The last few recruiting classes aren't nearly as bad as the last three Bennett had before June got here.

This thing can be turned around faster than June did it, and he had us in a bowl in two years.Next year, we will have Davis as the incumbent, Colbert backing him up, and a JUCO and a frosh QB (not the one we have now). Although I have stated a million times that I think we have talent at QB, Davis and Colbert are the only ones that fit the profile of the new offense, and those are the only ones that will be kept. Davis will do fine in this offense - it is a zone read and if it is a pass it is a single or two option pass play and then run type of offense. Much, much better fit for his skill set. And Morris showed this year that he can play a frosh at QB and win. So if Davis doesn't cut it in the first couple of games, he won't hesitate to hand over the reigns.

the OL isn't going to be perfect, but I bet we see Lasecki and Brown and Guard and that should be okay. Immediate needs for an effective offense: 1 hybrid WR/TE, 1 WR with size, and a good RB. Durrall could be that RB, but Line and Gresham will be moved to FB/HB so we need more than just Nlemchi and Durrall at RB.

Defensively, the concern is the front 7 and it really depends on scheme. If we move to a 4-3, we are in much better shape on the line from a size and skill perspective. We need more tackles - Zelt will play DT in a 4-3 with Hollie and Reed, but we need help there. At LB, Horton and Tui are the only guys on the roster with enough size to play in the middle. We have a ton of LBs at 210-220, which isn't even big enough to play OLB. They are going to have to all put on a ton of weight or else we would be better off moving to a 4-2-5 scheme. the defense is going to take longer to fix than the offense.

I don't think it's as terrible as it looked this year either. A new leader can make a huge difference and I'm willing to bet that Morris (or virtually ANY head coach that puts effort into the job) could get more out of many of these players than we are seeing now.

There is no reason we shouldn't be able to be a 4-5 win team at worst in the AAC next year. Having NTSU and an FCS team on the schedule at home should help too.

A head coach who actually delegates coaching responsibilities to his staff will help immensely. Hiring assistants who know how to coach their position will be a major improvement.

Wondering if the rampant injuries are due to the view that our team is inadequate to hold up against the competition? Get manhandled, get hurt?

This team is unprecedented in its ineptitude.

Sagarin has us ranked #192, I spot BELOW Daa school Charlotte, who has a 5-6 record.

The 2 schools ranked directly below us, Furman & Portland St, are both Daa schools with 3-9 records!!

Sorry, not buying the injury argument, this took YEARS in the making.

CM should filet this team like an east Texas catfish.

It will take 2-3 recruiting classes to fix it. That can't be avoided.

Unfortunately it can't be avoided DDog, but I really hope CM is as creative as legally possible to churn this team as quickly as possible.

Lots of bad karma from tiki, get rid of it.

Underdeveloped boys playing against men would be one reason IMO

A full offseason under a competent strength coach would help immensely.

He can only move 20-25 players per year including kids who graduate. Churning is not a solution. He will fill in holes as the older players graduate.

Quick Fixes:
1) we desperately need to hit the weight room. Everyone needs 10lbs of muscle. The lineman need 20-30lbs of muscle and fat.
2) we need to make the most of what we have until reinforcements arrive.
3) both the pay sites reported that Severt was significantly better than Colbert.

I was watching the Egg Bowl yesterday and I was amazed at the size of their WR's. Hopefully he can bring in some larger and stronger WR's. He's a respected recruiter in FL too. Maybe he can steal a guy from there.

So you don't think that the Offensive genius, June Jones, 5'8", 160 lb receivers are the way to go?

Of course, in my mind, June was just OFFENSIVE!

Hey those receivers are really fast......in practice

When we played ECU, I was shocked at how much bigger their WRs were than ours! ECU???

Why are big WRs so important in the spread? Believe it or not, blocking is a big part of it. Many of the quick screens and fly sweeps rely on the WR's to smother the DBs so as to create space.

Many people think Morris will move Gaines to TE/HB. I predict not - Gaines will be outside WR because he is our only "big" guy with WR speed.

Let me turn this around a little. Which of the JJ commits would you want to keep? Seems like that includes at least one who later backed out.
