Tulsa AttendanceModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Tulsa AttendanceNebraska comment is well noted. South Carolina went 0-11 in Lou Holtz's 1st year despite drawing 75-80k every game...but I'd still like to see how our guys would do against Temple and Tulane in front of 30k crowds rather than the (at least) half empty Ford Stadium we will see for those games
Re: Tulsa Attendance
All that sounds great but it better result in 32K every game very quickly or Morris will go coach at a school that will support the program. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

sb is a negative nancy and will never see anything positive relating to SMU. He relishes on the defeats and loves losing. That is what it seems sb, no offense.

Re: Tulsa AttendanceWe need a Mustang Mania2, no doubt.
Maybe not this year because you need to have a somewhat entertaining product to sell and maybe they knew it would be a year too early. Really hoping next year they do something, anything, to ensure we never go below 25k fans per game. Home opener will be a weak opponent but it will also be our home opener. We then have TCU and conference games against Coogs, Navy, USF and Memphis. That's not a bad home schedule, but relying on W/Ls to generate crowds is simply not good enough, especially since our most likely best case scenario is 6-6. If we don't have some marketing plan in place, I don't see us going over 25k for any game absent TCU. Oh, and EVERY game besides TCU needs some form of help.
Re: Tulsa AttendanceOnce we get to a .500 product attendance will go up.

Good so far, but out of bourbon. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Tulsa Attendance
Well of course it will go up, the question is by how much. Let's all agree that 2016 we go 5-7. We have decent home opponents, but do you really expect us to average over 22k without some marketing help. Look at our 2017 home schedule...SFA, NTSU, Arkansas St, UCF, UConn, Tulane and Tulsa. You want to guess what our season ticket sales will be? Even if we were to go 10-2, what do you realistically expect us to average per game? I think its enormously naive to expect 'wins' to cure this. We need Mustang Mania2.
Re: Tulsa AttendanceAre we really still having this conversation?
Re: Tulsa AttendanceI'm telling you, Korean wedding. Bride pays people to attend, groom has no idea nor does he care because his nuptials and union look important enough to draw a crowd.
In our case, give out 10K free tickets a game to local kids. Get everyone from the Oak Cliff boys and girls club and their parents tickets and send a bus to pick them up. Not only does the stadium look more full on TV (ahhh, the drawback of the ESPN deal is.....now more people see how few attend when our highlights go on SportsCenter), but we might even engender some brand loyalty and get a few new fans from areas we don't traditionally draw from. Plus, it offers a great opportunity for some kids and maybe one of those kids from sees the school and campus and grindstones it in school and really becomes that "world changer" we advertise. Make an impact.

Re: Tulsa AttendanceIt'll look better when they demolish the north upper section and put in the party deck. Make it a charity thing, #lockarms with the salesmanship club and call it the pavilion
