as a son of a former SMU Professor who used to know a high percentage of the SMU Faculty, I'd bet that actually you might find some pretty negative feelings in the faculty toward the Pickens gift at least from long time faculty members. There is deep distrust among the faculty of selling SMU off to the highest bidder especially after the SMU big-wigs drove the reputation of the university off a cliff with the Death Penalty. Believe it or not some SMU Faculty are very loyal to the traditions of the university even if not Football fans. Peruna represents the entire university.

Stallion,

I agree with you that there are (and always have been) faculty members that are very respectful and protective of SMU's history and traditions. In my time on the Hilltop, Marsh Terry, Jim Breeden, and Twinkie Lawhon were just a few of them. I suppose I could be wrong, but my impression is that they were not in the majority of the falculty then, and my guess is that there are even fewer now who care a whole lot about the traditions of the university.

( BTW -- This truly is bizarro world, since I find myself agreeing with Stallion so much lately. I suppose that is exactly the point of a true tradition: Peruna has the power to unite SMU alums who don't often agree on much else).

Where is the Peruna Memorial again? Is that the halftime plan for those who don't want to see "Mustangs" brought to their knees?

Southeast corner of Ford Stadium. I plan to be there at halftime.
